ray-ray armstrong is under investigation and could face charges. it happened before sunday's game in pittsburgh against the steelers. investigators say armstrong barked at the dog and then lifted his jersey pounding his chest before warmup. >> the player exited the locker room, was heading to the entrance of the field. he directly engaged one of our police dogs and police officers in a very threatening and intimidating manner. >> a sheriff's deputy then had to restrain the dog. there's been no comment from armstrong or the raiders. taunting a police dog is a third degree felony in pennsylvania. >>> oakland mayor libby schaaf is in new york today to tell a group of nfl owners why the raiders should stay right where they are. she is making her pitch without a deal in place for a new stadium and is not offering any public money to subsidize it. instead, schaaf plans to use all of her 45 minutes to talk about oakland's appeal for pro football and she does want to make improvements to the area around the coliseum. >> what we have to sell right now is an incredible market. could be in the range of $100 million. not taking existing city money away just using future revenues generated by a new project. >> schaaf wants to attract people from all over the bay area including by upgrading the coliseum bart station. >>> they need you, roberta, to tell them why the raiders should stay put! >> i bleed silver and black! we have a game on sunday and rain in the forecast for that game. which only makes us a little more crazy in the black hole! into portion of the monterey bay area. we have temperatures more widespread this morning. right there in san jose, the temperatures still in the 40s. it has dipped to the mid-30s in santa rosa. it is now upper 30s in throughout the tri-valley. 43 in concord. but we do anticipate before sun- up this morning for those numbers to tumble at least a couple more degrees. upper 50s at the beaches today. 60s bayside and peninsula up to the mid-60s inland. rain is back in the forecast. we'll highlight which day to expect it coming up at 18 minutes after the hour. >>> the family of the uc-merced student who stabbed four people on campus last week is breaking their silence saying, the family of faisal mohammad wishes to thank their friends for their support in that time of grief. we also want to express our deepest sympathy to the victims on campus at uc-merced. investigators say mohommed targeted several classmates after they kicked him out of a study group. police say he walked in a class courtroom and began stabbing people. students and a construction worker fought back. mohommed was shot and killed by campus police. he was a freshman and grew up in santa clara. the victims will recover. >>> new this morning, sad news, the puppy left in fact dumpster last month has died. the "pressdemocrat" reports this chihuahua puppy died during surgery to fix her two broken legs. the dog was discovered in the trash last month in santa rosa. a $2,000 reward is being offered to anyone who might have information about that dog's mistreatment. >>> the republican presidential candidates do is live in downtown san jose, home to unwith of the largest annual -- to one of the largest annual veterans day parades. kiet. >>> reporter: we are live on park and market in downtown san jose where the opening ceremonies are set to begin at 11 a.m. the veterans day parade here in san jose one of the oldest and one of the longest running ones in the country started back in 1919. it starts on santa clara street at the guadalupe river and then goes east until it hits market and then makes a right and ends on san carlos. just before the start of the parade, local officials will launch a huge campaign to end homelessness among veterans, called all the way home. the bowl is to find -- the goal is to find homes for the 700 homeless veterans in santa clara county. many of them have housing vouchers but can't find an opening. so one of the key components of the campaign, the $5 million fund to incentivize landlords to ren advise properties and accept the vouchers. starting tomorrow, u.s. military veterans in california will be able to apply for special driver's licenses. the dmv says the word veteran will appear on the licenses. they will allow vets to show proof of military service without having to carry all that paperwork. veterans will need to get their military discharge certificates, bring them to a cal vet office to get a veterans status verification form people may be staying home today? >> yeah. which means our freeways could be quieter than usual for a regular wednesday morning commute. right now, though, i'm going to go straight out to the eastshore freeway east 80 right before pinole valley road. i want to show you on our sensors, we are still seeing some slow-and-go conditions there. all lanes were shut down eastbound 80 right before pinole valley road for a deadly freeway shooting. anne makovec is live on the scene to give us more details about that in just a few minutes. but right now you might see some slow-and-go conditions which means there may still be some activity there off the road. we aren't seeing delays westbound 80 around the area. this is around appian way, pinole valley road area. at one point they were diverting traffic off the freeway to get back on 4 back on highway 80 there. also traffic looks good toward the bay bridge. very light, no delays out of oakland into san francisco. only 18 minutes for the commute off the carquinez bridge if you are heading towards the maze. most of our bay bridges are quiet. here's a live look at the golden gate bridge and you can see no delays out of marin county into san francisco right now. we have cars on the road. an easy ride 13 minutes out hayward into foster city. no eastbound delays. accident reported northbound 880 right at 29th, fruitvale area. that 42 in san jose. 43 in concord. we do have that frost advisory in effect for the north bay and south bay until 9:00 this morning so grab a jacket heading out the door and it is definitely sweater weather throughout the day today. next rain event has been moved up. it is now slated to move into the bay area with up to half inch of rain on sunday. the coast is clear. we do the departure of that cold front that brought us the thunder and lightning and rain on monday. it is out of here. that's it right there over colorado. high pressure continues to build in from the west. and it's pulling in all that drier cold air mass from the gulf of alaska. and so while we will have the sunshine our temperatures are still slightly below average. we are going to stay mild all the way until the saturday. then that right there, that's the next area of low pressure. i got to tell you, i really believe in some of our higher elevations here locally on sunday by the time it tapers off on early monday 1.5" of rain but generally around the central bay a quarter to half inch of rain, yeah! 62 in sacramento today. 47 degrees in the high sierra where currently it is 16 degrees!! all right. we small closure affecting traffic as you work your way through there. they are diverting some vehicles off at appian just to get right back on the freeway. it's causing some slight delays there morning forced the shutdown of eastbound lanes on an east bay freeway. anne makovec reports on how drivers are being diverted around 80. >> reporter: they are, but the crime scene has just been reduced so it's a short closure, get off at appian and get right back on. but the shooter is still on the loose in this case. just before midnight here on eastbound 80 a man was driving and he was here at the appian overcrossing when another car pulled up and somebody started firing at his driver's side window. that man died at the hospital soon after. a woman passenger was shot in the arm but will be okay. several witnesses are helping the chp with this investigation which had that freeway shut down for more than 5 hours. >> it covers a large area with all lanes in the freeway being involved. and because of the measurement and preservation of crime scenes it's a slow methodical process. >> what we do know is that the shooter and the victim did know each other. so it was a targeted attack. back out here live now in pinole this is where vehicles are being told to get off of eastbound 80. but you can see they just cross the overcrossing and they are able to get right back on the freeway here so no real traffic tie-ups because of the time of the day that this happened. that was the good news. all -- all we know about the people who were shot is they are in the 20s or rohnert park on saturday and were found last night about 200 miles to the south. kpix 5's andria borba reports. >> reporter: sam and maria walkos from rohnert park are heading home this morning. they were discovered 10:30 tuesday night in paso robles. they flagged down a passing driver and said they needed help finding the motel room and they wanted to take a little trip. but they had been missing up here in sonoma county for more than two days triggering a silver alert from the chp. they were last seen on camera at a bank of america in healdsburg withdrawing cash but just around 10:30 on tuesday night they found a passing driver we're told that they are safe and sound. and they are headed back home after two days of searching. in rohnert park, andria borba, kpix 5. >>> a san leandro woman is still in critical condition after an suv crashed into a room where she was sleeping. police say the driver was speeding went through a stop sign before hitting the home early yesterday. he slammed into a garage that had been converted into a bedroom. a litter of puppies was in the room, was also hit. two of them died. the 20-year-old driver is in the hospital but is expected to survive. police are not sure yet if drugs are alcohol were factors. >>> we now know the identities of the two people who died in a hostage standoff in san jose's cambrian area. the victim was 53-year-old yolanda najera. she was shot to death inside her house on monday night. the man responsible also lived at the home at one point. investigators are trying to figure out the chain of events that ended with officers killing the gunman in a shootout. police say the gunman was leonel acevedo. and he started shooting at them when he came out of the house. one officer was wounded but the injury is minor. >>> a san francisco driver accused of hitting two boys in a crosswalk has pleaded not guilty. kirsten anderek was in court yesterday on felony counts including driving under the influence and child endangerment. 12-year-old boys were struck a week ago while walking to school. they have serious injuries but will recover. anderek is out on $200,000 bail. as part of the bail agreement she is
