and that is why he plans to appeal. >> i know my life will not end up like this. >> reporter: raymond chow is scheduled to be sentenced on march 23rd. he faces life in prison. he is confident he will win on appeal saying quote the truth will set me free. chow says he had just finished writing a book on his life when he was arrested and he received an offer to make a movie about his life. he hopes to do that if and when he is a free man. >> gosh, amber, fascinating. it appears he was really open with you. what was it like to be in there with had him? >> well, he was very confident. i asked him, aren't you sorry for your criminal past. he said no. and i asked why not. his explanation is it makes me who i am today. i am proud who i am today and help at risk youth. >> this was a hard interview to get, how difficult to get and how much time did you sit down with him after everyone signed off on him. >> it was difficult. judge has to sign off on it, u.s. marshal, u.s. attorney's office and then the defense attorney as well as the defendant himself hi to get written deck hror -- i had to get writ

that being said, raymond "shrimp boy" chow maintains he is innocent.onvicted him on january 8 on 162 counts, including racketeering and murder, of another chinatown leader, alan lung. chow admits to having rough past which included many of the same charges he faces now. he did serve ten years in prison but was released in 2003. he says after his release though he was changed man often volunteering at schools and helping young kids from leading a life of crime. he was arrested though in 2014 alongside state senator leland yee in a corruption scheme that included gun running and other illegal crimes. he says he did not parse in any of it and he was arrested by undercover investigators based solely on his past. >> i am like a trophy to them. you cannot find any worse scapegoat than me. my past record, you know, get the whole chinatown shake. and every time, you know, big trouble, yeah, everybody point a finger at me, you know? and i become perfect scapegoat in that situation. in the last case i did a lot of -- i did a lot of bad thing, you know. i messed

what was it like being in a very small room sitting across the table from raymond chow? >> he is very colorful. i have seen all the press coverage. i had never met him. growing up in chinatown was a big part of my life. i knew a lot of people knew of him personally and i heard a lot of stories and wanted to find out for myself what he is like but i didn't go in with any expectations because if you don't know someone, you want to make sure you find out for your self. that was one reason i really wanted the interview. i wanted to hear from him and then present it to our viewers and let them decide because in a trial, most of us don't get to sit in a trial and get a sense of it. all you see is the press coverage and by hearing his voice, i think it makes a difference. >> did you ask him more about luallin he? -- leland e -- senator leland he -- yee. was he clean-cut to him? >> he said in his own words i thought he was a good guy because i ran into him doing outreach at the school. he said i worked on his mayoral campaign and said he didn't do anything illegal. i stood on st

chow and leland yee. vic lee joins us live with the latest developments today, vic? >> you recall senator yee did plead guilty to corruption charges so there was no trial for him. but raymond shrimp boy chow is fighting charges. the hearing is over here at the court house, the prosecution ended arguments this afternoon. the prosecutor's closing arguments took all morning and most of the afternoon, explaining charges against raymond shrimp boy chow. an arsenal of firearms displayed on a table for jurors to see. he took the stand and says he is innocent of racketeering, money laundering, trafficking and drugs. including a high profile killing of a head of the chinatown leader. but badger told jurors he's a ruthless thug and that he was a shot caller of a criminal syndicate. he claims he's a changed man and devoted his life to community work. to that, the prosecutor said mr. chow went back to the only life he knew, surrounding himself with thugs in chinatown. his attorney began his closing arguments, focusing on his client's former associates, who turned and testified for the government saying they were lying to get leniency. >> i told the jury they went to the toilet and scr

chow and leland yee. vic lee joins us live with the latest developments today, vic? >> you recall senator yee did plead guilty to corruption charges so there was no trial for him. but raymond shrimp boy chow is fighting charges. the hearing is over here at the court house, the prosecution ended arguments this afternoon. the prosecutor's closing arguments took all morning and most of the afternoon, explaining charges against raymond shrimp boy chow. an arsenal of firearms displayed on a table for jurors to see. he took the stand and says he is innocent of racketeering, money laundering, trafficking and drugs. including a high profile killing of a head of the chinatown leader. but badger told jurors he's a ruthless thug and that he was a shot caller of a criminal syndicate. he claims he's a changed man and devoted his life to community work. to that, the prosecutor said mr. chow went back to the only life he knew, surrounding himself with thugs in chinatown. his attorney began his closing arguments, focusing on his client's former associates, who turned and testified for the government saying they were lying to get leniency. >> i told the jury they went to the toilet and scr
