organizers of should march and the group rdc which is a bunch of unemployed people say they're going to do their best to avoid causing major traffic jams but they do have a march planned in the middle of rush hour. let me show you the scene here right now. you can see the folks kind of coming together, getting organized. they're having a big noon rally. those are folks from the teacher's union. they're also expecting hundreds of folks from the communication worker's union. you can see all of the occupy d.c. tents out here and the stage getting set up for the big teach-in. along about 2:00, 2:30, they're going to head out of mcpherson square over here right near the white house, head right down k street where, of course, all of the lobbyists are. cut over at some point to m street, march right through georgetown, head up to the key bridge. then they're going to have the big rally on the key bridge. they expect it will go right through rush hour. they have no intention of blockading the bridge, no intention of anybody getting arrested. >> it has been all over the news. people know abou

a sympathetic group called rdc. they are allowed to demonstrate on the sidewalk. they will be arrested if they disrupt traffic. similar demonstrations are taking place around the country today. michelle franzen has more. >> reporter: clashes between demonstrators and police in new york city escalated in the park where the movement began two months ago. protesters toppled barricades and violence erupted. one protester was let out of the park by police with what appeared to be a bleeding head injury. >> the police came through the park, started shoving people around. >> reporter: throughout the day, police arrested more than 100 protesters. the bulk of the arrest came when demonstrators marched to wall street, blocking traffic. tensions between police and protesters have been building. a sweep earlier to clear the parks of tents, sleeping bags and tarps. cities across the country are considering similar action. demonstrators are determined to make sure they keep the movement alive. >> the issues speak for themselves. people are in such dire straits they have no choi
