because realtime confidence is getting affected in realtime by higher gasoline prices. if you put a chart up going back to the last time we had $4 gas, there's no doubt there's a pretty darn good correlation between equity performance and the price of oil. if you look at interest rates that were in fact looking at a two-day chart, rates down. open it up to the week and here we are two basis points down on the day and two basis points down on the week and it could be the lowest weekly close since february 3rd which happened to be the first friday of february. if you look further at other issues, i think one of the key points you need to bring up is the dollar index. you can see the dollar index is at the lowest level since december, early december. well, that's because the euro's at the highest level since the same period. but it isn't all bad news for the dollar. it is closing about at a level on the dollar/yen, just shy of $1.81, the best since the fourth of july. >> we want to talk more about inflation sentiment -- i think sharon epperson is is joining us from the nym

it was eight beurre disappointment. >> the opening bell, the s&p 500, realtime exchange. >> existingnuary. >> somehow, greece had to deal with its debt level which is still way too high and it's growth which is way too low. so the market i think is being very rational saying it's a step but it's not a big enough step as yet. >> markets slightly lower today but all indices still on track for their best january and february percentage gains since 1991. the dow looking at about a four-point loss right now. s&p, three-day winning streak looks to be in jeopardy with it down one point to 1361. nasdaq in the red, as well. financials the worst performing sector in the s&p. slipping today on some concerns about a recession in europe. got some relatively discouraging pmi numbers out of the eurozone. a lot of the big banks were exposed over there. of course the big players are in the red today. energy the best performing s&p sector led higherly neighbors and range resources after both companies reported quarterly results. so time for our road map. the dow retreating a bit from 13,000 yesterday.

>>> your realtime captioner is linda marie macdonald. >>> good thursday afternoon. i'm grace lee. >> hi, everybody. i'm frank mallicoat. an earthquake rattled the north bay a few hours ago. social media sites lit up with residents who could not stop chatting about it. the 3.5 quake was started about two miles south of vallejo. today's quake hit less than a day after another shook solano county, as well. gil diaz is live in vallejo with the residents who felt it. >> reporter: good afternoon. a whole lot of shaking going on in this part of the bay area the first around 6:00 last night and the latest at 9:13 this morning. workers at this church of the hill felt it pretty good. one described it as a loud pop. some pictures fell. nothing broke and no one was hurt. but having two quakes in less than 15 hours is nerve- wracking. >> well, a lit jittery, you know? i know several of us are going over our disaster plans making sure we have water and making sure our kids know where the rendezvous point is and making sure we know where the flashlights are and that kind of stuff.
