rebecca stevenson is joining us. it's downright chilly. >> it is. it was lake shore that had a 70 miles per hour wind gust. that's the highest of the resort. one coming from the north-east. the wind going, and we'll looking at the snow fall totals looking at the storm damage caused from the snow. that's the dots in purple. we have heavy snow in place and the melts on top of it. roof collapses and from the wind. the snow reports from this storm that came through, were the highest, especially when you focus around the state of massachusetts. impressive amounts, anywhere from 18 inches of snow up to 25 inches of snow in places. by far, boston looking at an incredible day, setting a record 13 inches of snow from the storm passing through today. breaking the old record of 1940, putting you up for the first 15 days of february 53 inches above formal. that's how much snow has been coming down and now the temperatures now. it's 6 below zero and now it is 7 degrees in new york. when we look at the wind speed. they are gusting 25 to 40 miles per hour, making

our meteorologist rebecca stevenson has more on that storm, rebecca. >> john this storm was incredible. as it tracked across chicago known detroit and now it is passing through parts of massachusetts, poverty in particular up through -- boston in particular and up through maine . temperature changes have plummeted just in a few hours by 12 to 15° cooler at there hour and as you said with chicago's fifth largest brings art on record chicago was 16.2 inches of snow on february 1st well, that's more than any snow they've gotten on a givennen day in february. all kinds of records were broken with this snow. little over six and a half inches at new york city, at la guardia airport. icicles out on the streets now it feels like eight degrees below zero in albany. flash freeze coming in tonight as temperatures plunging into the teens in some areas single digits. we're concerned with icing low temperatures are expected to be in the single digits, a lot of places that got the snow, the ice and then snow on top of it. john. >> they sure did rebecca thank you very much. an extraordinary exhibit at

rebecca stevenson tracking the latest on this one. what can we expect? >> more rain right now and intense heavy rain over northern oregon is pushing into south washington. 24 hour rain totals add up to three to four inches along parts of the washington and oregon coast. northern california had some of the coastal mountains report up to four inches in this last storm. but this is just the second in a series of three. the next system is gearing up to move in as we get into sunday and it's going to bring a lot of rainfall on top of where we already had plenty. coastal areas to the left, astoria, oregon over an inch and a half of rainfall. what our concern here is because all the rain has gotten into the ground and it's saturated. it is not frozen, this area the west coast has been 5'8°" above normal. for a long period of time. but 90 days we're looking at lows and highs and they continue to run on the warm side. so that problem brings the fact that there's just no mountain snow accumulating here, certainly not for any water issues for summertime. we could r

to deal with it we have rebecca stevenson. >> we have snow coming hitting chicago. we'll have big problems. especially when it comes to airline delays. chicago air has problems when there's heavy snowfall. all of this coming in. chicago, you are looking at snow now. tomorrow you'll end up with 12-18. as you can see, you have the band of heaviest snow. wet have less snow further south. st. louis - this is where we'll have problems with ice accumulation, and that will stretch all the way over to the east. it will dump more know on the areas hit hard last week. by sunday is 1:00a.m. we are expecting the total of 12-14 inches stretching to detroit. at this point south of pennsylvania, it will run up to a couple of inches of snow and with the ice on top of that people are not encouraged to travel. you'll want to check the travel cam. department of transportation sites will help you as you get on the roadways moving to pennsylvania all the way through the morning. it appears at this point in time that the snow into new jersey new york city and connecticut and massachusett

rebecca stevenson has more. i'm cold reading that. >> what do you want me to say. >> it is so cold outside. >> the snow is tapering off. we are seeing what is left. moving out of main. the blizzard warning is impacting you. it's the storm damage it's caused a lot of problems with buildings collapsing on themselves roofs caving in. that's where the wind damage has been, and inland the purple dots are from the intense snowfall that we have. moving on let's look at what we have. lighter snow further inland. 3-5 inches as you move to the coast we are getting totals, from this storm alone, anywhere from 10-3 inches of snow. this is a daily record you have 13 inches of snow and breaking the old record. and the amount of snow is incredible. now, it put us about 53 inches above normal for the amount of snow just for the first 15 days of february. wind speeds gusting 40-50 miles per hour making the temperatures so cold. dangerous to be outside. windchill warnings. it feels like it's anywhere from five degrees below zero

rebecca stevenson with a look at the forecast. >> a series of dorms keep rolling in, wind rain and warm temperatures. the pacific northwest as a whole has had low temperatures run going ten degrees above normal for the last 60 days and their high temperatures run going four to eight degrees above the average. for the last 60 days. in fact some place he this has been going on for at least 90 days. so very warm, a lot of rain, storm 2 hitting right now and you can see the heaviest rain hits when it moves up into the mountains. the coast range of oregon and washington olympic mountains we're getting a lot of rain in these spots. that helps squeeze out some of the moisture when it moves into the inland valleys portland having trouble with flooding. over an inch and a half for astoria and just piling on top of that with this storm too and the winds are gusty right now. you can see where the flood warnings are currently bright green that is mainly north california and northern california as we get into tomorrow and monday morning. we've got a lot more rain on the way. some spots will get anyw

i tell you it would have been a tough journey rebecca stevenson. >> starting with the day tomorrow chicago in the winter time is not always the best place to fly into our out of for that matter. always delays, anticipate them for the next 24 hours at least because there's a storm system that's tracking through it's going to dump a significant amount of snow in a band stretching from the northern part of iowa, michigan, pennsylvania and eventually swinging by and bringing even some more snow to places like new york city. new york city will probably get most of the same amount they got when this last blizzard went through. it was not a blizzard for new york city but it was further nor for massachusetts and you will get hit again in mched with a massachusetts with a storm. where they're going to play the super bowl tomorrow, it will move out and push snow to iowa, starting out with a little bit of rain and eventually we're going to expect to see a foot at least around chicago. there will be parts of the southern portion of the city that will get up to 14, 15 inches of snow. now that will stre

rebecca stevenson is tracking this. they got a couple of feet and now another foot . >> now the storm moving in currently, talk about disrupting life. disrupting life, disrupting travel. disrupting a lot of schools too. we've got cancellations for parts of massachusetts so you want to call to check in if you are anywhere in the northeast because it is going to be along duration snow event for massachusetts, rhode island, connecticut, northern connecticut, the focus of heavier snow is going to impact part of vermont. new hampshire getting amounts too. focused area we'll get snow, but we've got ice and freezing rain to worry about for the morning hours to the south. we have accumulations of ice in ports of northern new jersey to new york up to a quarter of an inch. our heavier ice accumulations will be there on the southern end. the ice accumulations will be lighter further on to the north but that's where the snow comes to play too. six to eight inches of snow in those central areas ten to 14 in parts of massachusetts an
