( rebecca ) a san francisco police officer shot and killed a man who stabbing another man. this is cell phone video of the scene captured by a fedex driver parked outside a subway restaurant. it happened yesterday morning just before 11:30 near fifth and market streets. police say a man stabbed another man inside the restaurant. police intervened and an officer shot and killed the attacker. police chief william scott was asked if this shooting could have ( rebecca ) all lanes of market street between fifth and sixth streets were temporarily shut down yesterday. multiple agencies are currently investigating the shooting. the victim in the stabbing is expected to be okay. back to you. (darya) rebecca strom is here to explain. rebecca?cca) this comes as there are rumors that justice anthony kennedy might retire. several former law clerks say if the 80-year-old justice does not retire this year, he will likely retire in 20-18 after 29 years on the supreme court. justice kennedy is refusing to comment right now. his departure would give president trump a second supreme court vacancy after justice neil gorsuch. this could cement conservative control of the court for a decade or more. (rebecca) the news comes as justice neil gorsuch is settling into his supreme court position. the 49-year-old appeals court judge from colorado was the subject of a bruising political fight in the senate. it resulted in a political showdown and a controversial rule change that could alter the way the senate will review future nominees. gorsuch returned the court to a narrow conservative majority. ( darya ) federal prosecutors have announced there will be no charges against the louisiana police officers who shot and killed a man last july.
