but you were speaking at one point about the broader community and the recovery month event that was held in pennsylvania. what is significant about that and why should other communities adopt that kind of effort? one, it's a validation that recovery is possible. so i think it really reframes for people what the possibility of recovery. i think it is an incredible opportunity for families to really celebrate recovery together and to validate the opportunity that they as a group have really made progress and can support in a very tangible way recovery just like you do with other diseases and i think that it's so important for people to feel normal that here they are being part of something that is similar to what other diseases experience. i mean, there are other marches and walks and kinds of things and now their disease has that, too, so it's a wonderful experience. it's a very emotional experience for many people to get that kind of recognition. this year, for the first time, we had people lining the streets cheering the walkers and that was like a significant change from-our first

some have questioned whether the job growth in this recovery is sustainable. just six months ago when i started on my current job predictions of a double-dip recession were common. those odds have greatly diminished. in the 2012 economic report of the president, the council of economic advisers predicted that 2 million jobs would be added to the economy in 2012. if this forecast proves to be correct, we would have the strongest job growth in six years. although my crystal ball is no clearer than anyone else's, i think some economists have been too quick to dismiss recent job growth as a statistical fluke. just a you few months ago, many commentators were arguing the strong job growth reported in 2011, was an aberration due to a jump in partial delivery jobs caused by the proliferation of internet shopping during the holiday season. these fear faded when january and february showed stronger jobs growth and revisions to december's data erased the surge in the courier and messenger industry. the evidence suggests that the recent job gains have been more robust than would be sugg

that as it may, the stock market, s&p, has been looking at this economy and forecasting for months a recoveryt let me show you for the last three months performance for the s&p, better than 4% gain for average, up 4.36% in january. up 4.06% in february. and so far this month, it's up about 3%. now the rest of the markets are playing catch up at this point. oil for example, now knocking on $110 per barrel at this point, up -- almost a percent today to $107.96 on wti here in new york. the ten-year yield, now getting to levels we haven't seen since early september. today, 2.36%. at 2.38 at the peak today and gold, we've been trying to figure out, is it a breath mint or candy? lately it acted like a hedge again. here it is compared to the price of the ten-year treasury. so it's been all over the map here but now suddenly in the last month or so, it's starting it track the price of gold with the price of the ten-year yield so as the ten-year yield goes lower and sees the yield go up, that brings the dollar down. moves the dollar higher, rather and that brings the price of gold down. starts it act

for the past several months she's been solely focused on her recovery. she has reached a settlement for her injuries. according to court papers, the company that insures the plane and its pilot, kurt richmond, originally offered scruggs $200,000 in damages. at first, news reports stated that scruggs had rejected the offer. but her attorney says the two sides have now come to an agreement, tuesday night he told nbc news, attorneys for miss scruggs and aggressive insurance services llc jointly announce that they have resolved the issues raised in the declaratory judgment action. back in december, scruggs flew over dallas in a single-engine plane with a friend to see christmas lights around the city, but as she exited the plane she accidentally walked into the still-spinning propeller. according to the ntsb report, the pilot, a family friend of scruggs, says he told scruggs to walk away from the propeller as she exited, but it's unclear whether she heard him over the roar of the engine. scruggs suffered critical injuries that have taken their toll. despite
