this is an incredible new rec center. it has been 50 years since it has been built, but it has been a 10-year struggle of the community. many of the people that are here to advocate with tremendous assistance to all wanted to thank the ong family for their support. also the rec and park department, dpw, and everyone is here. asian and neighborhoods and design, and many community groups have been key in supporting this. 20 years ago, over 20 years ago, when i could still run and jump the time, i used to play here regularly. i was an aspiring point guard on the basketball court. but i am so happy that new generations of young kids i can see back here will be the ones to benefit generations to come. also, mr. ginsberg mention the rec and park bond on the november ballot. we need to support that so that we have beautiful rec centers and play fields for everyone throughout the city, because it is an important part of making the city livable -- lovable and healthy for everyone. thank you for being here, everyone. i am proud to

there was an oversight with park and rec that got a knowledge that they did not pick it up. the plans were already seen and approved. someone did not pay to pick up a permanenit and get it in the st. >> there was no impact on the project? >> i think there was some work that got done because of the issue of the permit. >> having signed off on it? >> it is not something we encourage. we prefer people to get it, and it helped, because of the process had not been done right, 15 days might have been gone. in how the appeal because the permit did not get issued -- it helped the appeal because the permit did not get issued until july. if it had been done right this should have been issued around the start of march. >> technically, until it is actually issued, it is not a permit. >> exactly, it is a permit application but not a permit. >> the complete review had already occurred. it was ready to be issued in march. >> it had gone through the planning department, and the other departments were still going through the review with a different city agencies with other permits. >> thanks

i know i also called rec and park every time before there was a meeting and said there are no signs of the part regarding these meetings. could somebody please get a signed up -- get signs up? one person had a lot of additional access, and i say it for whatever reason we do out reach, it kept many people out. i would like to say there are a couple of issues, and i would like to see the appeal of held. one is they have connected the ada accessible route to the no. 10 bus on washington street. this is problematic. they require the side entrances be connected to public transit. it is not a wheelchair accessible on washington street. buses cannot let people off on the sidewalk. there are no sidewalk ramps. the person would have to wheel into the street to get to the entrance. we brought this up with mary, and she basically said what went on in the park was her business. what is outside in t is not. i am disabled. there is no point of having accessible teachers inside if people cannot get to the park. the no. 1 bus would have been a great alternative. it runs all the time. they have got bul

. -- rec center. we cut the ribbon on the rec center.or the residents of chinatown, the opening was especially significant, considering the population and amount of open space in the area. i want to thank my planning director and project manager and everyone who had a hand in making that opening such a big success. some good recognition. next friday, july 27, san francisco beautiful hosts its annual event in which they recognize individuals and programs and activities that have contributed to the beautification of san francisco. happy to report that our department is receiving 3 awards at the event. the new is for the -- the first one is for the new helen diller playground which opened up this spring. and then we are honoring george wong, who has made sure that our parks are beautiful. the third thing which we are a part of it is the ocean beach planning process. we participated with spur and the national parks service, puc, and numerous other stakeholders and community organizations, to create a long-term vision and plan for ocean beach
