that's where we find bob redell. >> good morning. the fire department has searched roughly 80% of this double wide trailer that burned early this morning in search of the elderly man who lives here by himself. and so far, they have not found any sign of him. and as for that remaining area, they have to search, too dangerous right now because of the possibility of a roof collapse. they do not believe he was home at the time. based on the fact if you look to the right there, the car's not in the driveway. the next door neighbor tells us this man left yesterday as he helped him jump a dead battery in the car. but the fire department has not been able to reach this man. haven't been able to get through to him yet. that's the reason they're searching inside just to be absolutely certain he was not at home at the time. this fire started a little bit after 2:00 this morning around 2:10, 2:12. here's the picture the fire department tweeted out when they arrived on the scene. and it gives you a good sense of how involved this fire was. one ne

bob redell is there. he spoke to a neighbor about what he saw. >> yeah, good morning to you, laura and scott. we did speak with one neighbor who knows this elderly man who lives in the double wide mobile home that burned a little after 2:00 this morning. and the last time he saw him was yesterday. he was helping him jump the dead battery in his car. his car is still not here. that's why the neighbor and the fire department believe that he is not at home. was not at home the time his place caught fire they have gone through the house to do a search to make sure there's no body inside. they've gotten through about 85% of the home. they can't go through the remaining area because it's too dangerous. again, fire department does not believe he was home at the time but they need absolute confirmation before they come out and say he's safe and sound. this fire started after 2:00 this morning. you can see the tweeted photo as far as it gives you a good idea what greeted them when they arrived here. the mobile hom

reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you.o new this morning police in vallejo looking for a suspect wanted for murder. someone shot this man, 22-year-old emil rodriguez. officers were called to the area on reports of gun shots. they found rodriguez less than a block away near the elementary school. he was taken to the hospital where he died. meanwhile, witnesses led police to a couple houses down the street, the s.w.a.t. team served warrants but did not find the suspect. >> 6:55. detail on the attempted murder suspect killed by police near stockton. the suspect has been identified as 43-year-old robert perry. his last known address was east of gilroy. police say perry led them on a high-speed chase. when his tire blew out and police closed in he pulleded out a knife and refused to drop it. one officer opened fire. perry died at the hospital. he was wanted for attempted murder and domestic violence. >> a follow-up for you, a man aested in connection with three drive-by shootings is out of jail. police arrested the 21-year-old

bob redell is live at police headquarters in daly city. this is pretty unbelievable, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, peggy. daly city police still looking for whoever stole that ambulance overnight. this is the ambulance in question that was taken, again no suspects, no description either. this was a little after midnight. the crew at the emergency medical services treating a diabetic patient in a neighborhood by the cow palace. the medics left the keys in the ignition in the ambulance running when they went inside. which is not unheard of. someone hopped in, drove off with the ambulance, ditching it a couple blocks away taking with them the gas card and the keys to the ambulance. again, no description of the suspect, as for the diabetic patient, he's under the impression that another ambulance was dispatched fairly quickly to help the patient. as you saw, the police were able to recover that ambulance. no arrests so far. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> bob, thank you. >>> breaking news out of russia a second bomb

bob redell joins us with a look at some of them. >> good morning. starting tomorrow the state will offer new protections for celebrities, students and workers, through new laws that go into effect at midnight tonight. so for workers who earn minimum wage, about to see more, employees -- employers must pay their employees at least $9 an hour, that's starting tomorrow instead of the $8 minimum. and by 2016 the minimum wage will jump up to $10 an hour. for restaurant servers, they might see less in their paycheck. a new law will require the state to tax any tips that are automatically added to bills. that's usually the case when you have a party of six or more at a table you see for example an 18% tip added to that. employers will no longer be able to fire an employee because they are the victim of a domestic abuse or sexual assault, and the employer must now change that employee's at-work phone number if that will help protect them from a stalker. for a k-12 student those who identify as transgender schools must allow them to join the sports team or u
