thank you to director redman. i don't want to reiterate what my fellow commissioners have already said. they've said so much. i've crossed those off my list in terms of comments and will not be asking questions tonight. i just wanted to point out that in all of the years that i've been on a commission, i don't believe and i've been at all the meetings, the commission meetings and joint meetings except for one. there has never ever been such a remarkable participation and line up of public comment as it has been tonight and also there has never been all the captains sitting in the meeting participating and showing their dedication so again, if that's worth pointing out here. and the only other thought and i think that this is why we feel concerned and passionate about this, we've been quoting statistics like 21 fatalities and many many more more in injuries and so many of them not reported, for each one of those incidents of fatalities or injuries, for each one, there is this ripple effect that's tra mend -- effect

i want to thank captain redman for working our office. redman came to the meeting in the south of market with our resident to see what we can do to focus on five and how we can get the support that needs to be there with dpt and breaking things. how do we enforce double parking and parking in the bike line and whose arena is what. that was incredibly helpful for our resident. he has to sit down with our organizations. this field outreach is important. our community and sfpd are working together on combatting this health epidemic. last i'll say that we supervisor avalos, he and i did introduce vision zero on tuesday. this is the building of that dialogue. they're taking all the comment of feedback. we want a lot of specifity and sfpd has done an a lot on the enforcement lot. as members of the public that's talked about, street engineering is important. and what was exciting last year, we were able to do the first two pilots of their clients here in san francisco on 6th street and on fulsom, one for the pedestrian and one for the bike lanes

we're located in the south of market and we have a really great relationship with captain redman. we it seems to me a lot of changes have taken care of with 10 b i'm happy to hear. we had a horrible experience in 2009 we were planning our tenth anniversary it was an event for the alumni program we expected hundreds of people we were working with the hotel for most and two days before the event we get a call from the hotel saying the sfpd said we couldn't have the event unless we were hiring 10 b officers. we were told it t to have 10 offers e officers that would cost 5 h $4,000 but then 2 and there was no alternative. you asked the question about what happens when the person didn't can't afford that there was no negotiation. we were told if we didn't higher those officers we couldn't have our farther which we paid for at the hotel. we were in tiers literally because we were expecting all those people it was supposed to be a great event for our families and the young people and it at the end up being a scary experience so i'm glad there were changes made. you know, i wanted to shar

i'm debbie gold and i live in district 6 and i'm on the safety committee and i'm on captain redman c-pad. i was listen to everyone during the course of the evening and i don't need it add to all the stories because we all agree on the same issues, however, i do want to say that i've been a driver for over 40 years and i learned how to drive from studying the dmv manual. no one has mentioned about including a representative from the dmv and i would also like to suggest that maybe each police officer has a copy of the dmv manual. i'm thinking that maybe some of the police officers, maybe the bus drivers, maybe the truck drivers, maybe those people who are out there who are breaking the laws have lost sight of the basic rules of the road, and my suggestion would be to maybe have the dmv manual accessible to everybody. and thank you very much. >> thank you very much. next speaker, please. don't be shy. you can line up closer to the podium. >> thank you, my name is howard and i live in sulma and i was on fourth street walking south and waiting for my pedestrian signal to change am i saw a tru
