to address red light running. one is signal timing, which involves pauses in the lights which are called clearance phases. we coordinate the signals and we have longer yellow lights. we want to make sure that we're exceeding standards, particularly in terms of red light running. for camera the yellow is very sensitive because a lot of the red light running caught by cameras is fractional, it's what's happening after the light turns red. we want to make sure we don't have any issues with the setting of our red lights. like i mentioned, we used some transportation sales tax primarily to upgrade our traffic signals and make them more visible. some people are just not paying attention. we want to make sure those type of crashes are addressed. we have upgraded most of the city. what remains to be done is very corridors that we will continue to work to improve. this involves removing poles, installing signal heads. here is an example, you can see a hill with trees. if the lights are not properly positioned, they can bec

the red flag warning. let me show you what that looks like. everywhere in red on this map has got it, 5:00 am tomorrow morning. doesn't expire till 5:00 pm thursday. the red flag warning specifically covers the extreme gusts in the mountains where the fire weather concerns are the greatest. there's a large part of the bay area included. it's all in the hills and the higher elevations for the most part. until you get toward some of those higher valleys. the coast and the bay, you're not under a red flag warning. let me show you the wind advisory. that doesn't mean you're not gonna notice anything. what you'll likely notice here, if we've got a wind advisory in place with gusts up to 40, first miles an hour for the areas in blue, most of the locations where we all live will notice gusts up to 25, 30. that is noticeable he breezy. it's not gonna be overall intense. here's the forecast. wednesday evening, santa rosa, you've got a gust. the areas in purple up here, above napa valley, the areas in purple are gusting to near 60. those other mountains

look at the red squares here, where the fire is burning now. if it is a red square the satellite detected heat in the last six hours. look at healdsburg. with the direction the wind will comfrom, should pick up 280 mile an hour gusts flames like that could jump miles with embers in front of the fire. it's not only healdsburg but windsor. if it sounds crazy that grenville is included, think back to how far the fire raced last year in a matter of hours in almost identical circumstances. let me show you what the wind looks like. it's not windy now. the bright colors show you the strong wind working down to the bay areanight. if we focus on the north bay for now, i will get everybody in in the complete forecast but i want you to look at this. there is an important difference. it's not only the 80 mile an hour gusts in the mouth but look at the potential for santa anna, santa rosa to see gusts near city. we will talk about this in a few minutes. back to you. >>> a live look at downtown oakland. right now the smoke from the kincaid fire is blowing in

this red flag warning.ot to the caliber of the last red flag warning we had with the hundred mile per hour wind gusts and some of the peaks in the fire zone. here is how the winds work out tomorrow, they start going about 2:00. you will notice them. you don't notice to much in hayward or san jose, you will notice them in the north bay. around midnight or so tomorrow night, it is going, wendy, 30 miles per hour. then, it starts to taper wednesday morning and then it is gone. a shorter lived event. wind speeds as not as robust, but certainly will be dangerous. temperatures tomorrow not hot, humid it is auto, but temperatures are mild. like i said, and heather pointed this out, you've got a lot of folks without electricity and you will see temperatures tomorrow morning and it's a night in the 30s. bundle up and check on your neighbors, the elderly, if they tell you to evacuate, evacuate. we will get better weather as we get towards wednesday and thursday. >>> coming up next, the warriors on the road in new orl

about 3 hours into it a little hard from this vantage point to see, but i did see a whole bunch of red lights beyond the ridge line you can see the cars here as well as people. leaving their homes doing the best that they possibly can you talked about it. the fire is only 50% contained at this point still burning i would imagine out of control. fortunately saint mary's and st. mary's is near this location. it does not me and does not seem that that college at this particular time has been threatened. look at that rob and more and more cars are coming through here, we'll get a little bit closer to the ridgeline give you a great vantage point of the fire. and our next report back to well just very quick question for you as we see people leave the area. >>some of the neighbors evacuated right now, does it seem to look like an orderly evacuation. i know as we look at look back at some of our wildfires from the north bay. there was so much pain panic and confusion folks to nowhere. the evacuation routes were they didn't have a police escort, so far doesn't look like then evacuation process

red flag warning until 4:00. the red highlighted areas, some of these winds could gust locally to 60 miles per hour. for the rest of us, it's a hot day today. 88 in oakland. sunny and warm. 87 in castro valley. san leandro,89. low 90s in santa rosa. the extreme fire conditions, the extreme heat continues throughout the day today. a little relief tomorrow. good morning, jobina. >> good morning. this is the traffic headline this morning. the sigalert that we are following in the north bay because of that fire. state route 128 between road and guieyserville road, whh is essentially geysers road and downtown geyserville, no word on when that will reopen. we've seen video of the roadway. there's flames, there's wind. you cannot see. the alternate is 101. you also want to be aware that roads east of 101 in that area are also impacted by the fire. that best not to try do side streets in that area. on the golden gate bridge, things are moving smoothly. that's the same story for the rest of the bay area this morning. >>>

red flag starts 8:00 a.m.nd goes through wednesday 4:00 p.m., gusts up to 65 miles an hour possible. this is what we saw last week, similar to what we saw on sunday. still seeing 50 in the east bay hills, 40 in the santa cruz mountains and maybe 65 in the hills again. there were some very cold temps out. it's helped a little bit with 30s and higher humidity, but in the hills the humidity is very low. even a little bit of fog is there for san francisco and the san mateo coast. to the north, that's where all eyes are on the wind speeds. they will start to pick up. ridge ranch, 22% humidity. there are some near the valley floor that are higher and colder. we have a lot of teens and low 20s for that. the winds will pick up tonight and tomorrow, then we should get a break. highs today near 70 for many. >>> right now we have slow traffic on highway 24 driving through lafayette. the commutes have been relatively normal. some have not been. sonoma county, it's been slow there. 37 minutes from the carquinez bridge to t

>> the focus, everywhere in the red has a red flag warning that start the 8:00 tonight. to answer the question why? it is the northbay that is getting picked on, have to show you the winds are going to be headed. anywhere in the mountains, napa county, about 1000 feet you can see that does include this range between sonoma and napa valley. the other area of concern, not to be left out are the mountains of north sonoma county as well. that is an area that needs to be watched. to understand why it is the northbay? let's go up to the wide view, winds or onshore, see how the streamlines are coming into the bay. watch what happens as we get past 11:00 tonight. the streamlines are going offshore but the red bull's-eye up above napa, you can see where the lines are painted in orange and red there. that is where we can see gusts up to 40 miles per hour, through those locations. that is why it is napa and sonoma and locations to the south will probably even notice much wind. we will have our forecast coming up in a few minutes . >>> a live look right now th the chase center which

at 7:14, we have the red cross on the phone with us right now and i can imagine you and the red crossy busy. what are you dealing with and what resources can you offer? >> good morning. the red cross workers opened up two evacuation centers in the middle of the night. people who were forced from their homes due to the massive fire were able to go in for massive areas of food, and shelter and information. we've had 18 residents that spent the night and we want to encourage people that are affected by the evacuation orders to get to safety and that's with these evacuation centers are for. the red cross has been mobilizing supplies, cots, volunteers and are at the ready to serve the community. >> do you have the supplies you need to accommodate? are you still asking for donations? >> well, we are able to respond to the disaster because people have donated in the past and because people had pre-donated to the disaster we have surprised supplies on hand. >> what is the mindset for those that have come to the center? how have they been and how do they seem? >> you know, when you are awoken

well it's a precaution for what's to come later, look at how this red spreads into the afternoon red indicating the strongest of winds initially in the north bay but spreading even out to the coast as we move into the evening tonight and into tomorrow morning. this is what we're going to see those peak wind gusts gusting as high at times as 45 to 55 miles per hour. you had to mountaintops about 1000 feet you could get gusts even higher than that and oftentimes that's where you'll see the spark on those mountain peak. so that's why pg e and other crews are taking this so seriously looking at humidity it falls well below 10% this afternoon in areas like concord napa yacht philip to kelsey ville in focus on this red area right there these are your areas where crews are looking especially because these areas right here have the extreme fire danger in areas surrounding sonoma and napa even spreading south into the east bay, diablo range in the santa cruz mountains. so a lot of the bay area looking at these key areas that will have the strong winds the lowest of humidity and then all that
