this is where strong winds took down one of the tall redwood trees early this morning. giving the home anders here a frightening wakeup call. the huge tree trunk came crashing down around 3:00 this morning. crushing the roof of this house. and the scary part this is the bedroom where the husband and wife were sleeping sat the time. both of them were unhurt. the tree trimmer tells me the issue here was the trunk had split into two over the years. >> the problem here it fell from 60 feet in the air it was one landing bulls eye right across the top of the house. typically when a tree falls, it falls from the ground. it has momentum but not like this. >> reporter: in san francisco strong gusts top 8ed this tree- - toppled this tree. forcing muni buses to be stopped. >> we are busy. we are doing the best we can. >> reporter: blowing sand forced to shut down along the great highway. in some spots the sand was close to four feet deep. one driver described blinding conditions. >> we went through a couple big sand dunes when we were going at 40 miles an hour. and set up at alarm
