what was it between that neighbor and redwood city and the dock? you know, the houseboat community. >> so the city had taken control of the land adjacent to the water and access to the water, i think, in 1945. and they leased it to folks who ran the marina for a long time. that was up until about 2015, when the folks who were running it left. and then the city started running the marina and a neighbor, mr. hanig and some other folks ended up suing the city, alleging that the marina was blocking access to public land and waters because it's on state land. that's what prompted the lawsuit, the city eventually settled, paid some money, and then agreed to use most of that money to help resettle the folks. there was about 60 some odd boats in the harbor at the time to eventually have them all move out, and a bunch of them have been given money. they've been given settlements, and that's kind of what prompted them all to move. i think there was some efforts down in san mateo county to have some kind of fix it, so you could keep the community there, but i

well, police in redwood city will soon add drones and other military equipment to their force. city council approved several new purchases for the police department, including less lethal launchers, long range megaphones and eight drones. there were some mixed views during some public comments about it, but most of the people are in favor of the move. the price tag for the equipment more than $115,000. well, ktvu has confirmed several ballots are being challenged in the vote recount of the district 16 congressional race to replace retiring congresswoman anna eshoo. it's not clear how many ballots are being challenged and the reason why former san jose mayor sam liccardo received the most votes in the march primary election. two other candidates tied for second place assembly member evan lowe and santa clara county supervisor joe simitian. they will both appear on the november ballot unless the vote recount leads to a different result. now the recounting process began on monday. santa clara county says this recount could now take up to two weeks to complete because of the ballot

. >> a hearing for convicted killer scott peterson held this morning in redwood city. this is the first of 3 hearings that have been set as his new defense team tries to get him a new trial kron. 4 charles clifford takes us there. >> tuesday's hearing here in redwood city was brief only about 15 minutes, but it is the first of 3 hearings that will be held over the next couple of months as scott peterson tries to get his murder conviction overturned. tuesday morning, scott peterson appeared to the san mateo county courtroom via video conference from mill creek state prison in amador county. his attorneys from the la innocence project have submitted more than 1500 pages of legal documents requesting evidence and information related to his case. among those documents was a letter asking that any new details they obtain be sealed to protect the identities of those who might provide that information. on tuesday, the innocence project withdrew that letter after the stanislaus county district attorney's office raised concerns that ceiling new information could be problematic.

ktvu jane torres is already at the courthouse in redwood city to tell us what to expect.ve. pam good morning to you. will these newest attorneys for scott peterson come from the la innocence project? they say they are looking to poke holes in the convictions of scott peterson, who was of course, convicted of killing his wife and their unborn child more than 20 years ago. now, it's never been made crystal clear why the la innocence project took on this case and why they're getting involved, only ever saying that they may have new information that could prove peterson's innocence. the la innocence project made their debut in the courtroom as peterson's counsel last month. peterson attending that hearing via zoom. there, they asked the judge to get access to thousands of pages of court records, as well as video and audio recordings, something these lawyers say peterson was never given access to before. they'll also aim to redo dna testing of evidence, specifically of a bloody mattress found inside a burned van outside of a burglary near peterson's modesto home. their hope is
