i'm reena ninan. president trump is praising his deal with mexico that promises a crackdown on illegal immigration. the president now suspending his plan to impose tariffs on mexican goods. there were growing fears that those tariffs could raise prices for american consumers. weijia jiang begins our coverage tonight from the white house. >> reporter: president trump is back at the white house after spending the week in europe. this morning, he tweeted, "everyone very excited about the new deal with mexico," a deal he first announced on twitter last night, adding, "the tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the u.s. on monday, against mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended." the 5% fee would have driven up the cost on all mexican imports, from cars to electronics, to fruits and vegetables. to avoid the tariffs, mexico has agreed to beef up measures to reduce the number of central american migrants crossing into the u.s. >> both countries recognized the vital importance of rapidly resolving the human

back with me is reena shaw.ight there, could they actually legally delay the census? isn't that something that's in the constitution? >> it is. and the constitution requires that the census be held every ten years. so it has to happen in 2020. the problem is, there's a lot of administrative work that goes into the census, and in fact in the supreme court case, the government told the court that they needed a final ruling, because census forms would have to be printed by the end of june for the census to go forward. it will be interesting to see if the government has a little more wiggle room. >> you watched the courts and their activities and their decisions. what do you make of john roberts siding with the liberal colleagues on this census ruling? >> i think he's trying to have his cake and eat it too. on the other issues -- the thing here is that roberts cares about his legacy, and he does know that, you know, where this is out right now, with the trump administration has done, has been deceitful. wilbur ross
