but there is a glaring difference of the pattern and that is reggio. it clearly interrupts the pattern of the variation of colors and a bright is. and i should add that the darker regions of the seasonal transport is likely coming out from the haze from the atmosphere. but what is special about the reggio region greasy carbon monoxide ice and nitrogen and bad day and. and methane. so maybe what we are seeing is the source region for some of the different ices. we will live space in in the future. we have a small bit of the compositional data down. but we have some great images and next we will find out about the ideologies. >> -- geology. >> looking at the hemisphere values see that you can see the animation you have a full seven frames that will be a tall frame mosaic because this area it covers a vast i seaplane we are informally calling of around the periphery and the interior are geological wonder some would like to share those with you. could i have the next slide please? that rectangle that you see on the upper left next slide this is the norther

[applause] >> that was our reaction too. so the whole of this is regions around it covering a variety of terrains, and this is the first thing that caught our tension. this area from the scale bar is about 150 miles across. we have seen features as small as half a mile. you can see the apl campus on this image. the most stunning things well there are many, but the most striking geologically is we have not found an impact crater. this means it is very young because pluto has been bombarded by others. we are eyeballing it thinking it is less than a hundred million years old which is a small fraction of the four and a half billion year age of the solar system. with no craters, you cannot guess how o

i want to make one more comment about tumbo reggio. we could see the heart very far from pluto. when we were still 70 million miles out and only barely resolving the planet little better than hubble can do from three billion miles away you can see that shining like a beacon. because it's the most prominent feature on the planet that's we want to call it tom balreggio. one more hand for tom, please.
