he interviews even regina's mother.you know if the author of this article, ariel castro, is the same as the one who has been arrested? >> that's what neighbors and some of the family members said. what his uncle told me is that the families do know each other and have known each other for years. it's a very small neighborhood on cleveland's west side that has a lot of hispanic population. so he said that his family grew up with gina's family. the uncle talked about donating money to fundraisers to find her. so he probably wrote that and submitted it on his own. he wasn't a reporter or anything like that. but it's very possible that he did know their family. gina's uncle owned a pretty popular club. >> that's an extraordinary connection if it turns out to be true. you're talking to the uncle of areel castro. we're going to take a break and i want to find out how often it is that a suspect actually knows the family of somebody who he's been accused of having a part in their disappearance. we'll be right back. all business

i want to thank your director regina dick-endrizzi and others that were a pleasure to work with and they put in many hours to see that tonight worked smoothly so i'm going to give a few slides based on our annual report what it is that we do. the commission of status of women was established by the board of supervisors in 1975 and was a permanent in the charter in 1994 so the focus areas are gender equity in the work place and anti-violence and gender analysis and what is the over arching umblellia is the ordinance and the elimination of discrimination against all women. that was a un convention and signed by then president jimmy carter. anybody remember jimmy carter? it's never been ratifyed in the u.s. senate and states have ratified it, signed it with the exception of the united states, so in 1998 women of san francisco said that is not good enough. we're going to create our own ordinance reflecting this international bill of rights for women. next slide. so in terms of work place you will hear a little bit more from our policy director ann lehmas who is going to step in for someone w

i know regina hosted a workshop on ada compliance issues. we've done a lot for hiring like i said, hr like i said, marketing and one thing that's been really great we had a lot of legal assistance, so i think upwards of 50 of our micro loan borrows have received legal assistance pro bono. we also provide access to capital workshops so they can learn about equity financing, government subsidies and the rest. we also provide opportunities to promote their business such as grand opening events with mayor lee and his staff, our annual holiday gift fair and social media. finally as you know working solutions is san francisco working intermediary and title nine funding and other funding and soma stabilization funds and general funds. 49 loans approved or funded today or 33% of our loan portfolio have come from these pool of funds. that's 1.32 millions to small businesses and average size of 25,000. districts include every district except one and four. to date our impact stretches over the entire bay area. we made 3.6 billion to small businesses an

joining me live "usa today" contributor regina lewis. welcome to you. let's get with memorial day weekend travel here. fewer people are expected to hit the road this year? >> it looks like it. i think the verdict is out. definitely fewer people expected to hit the skies. about 2 million. it is very much a driving holiday to the tune of 30 million people. hitting the road. i think at this time of year, what's interesting, alex, is the summer feels long and people have fluctuating incomes. they're confident but not that confident. so, they say you know what? we've got to just make sure we've got some in reserve for fourth of july. and so that we don't run out come labor day. we also see people having fuel efficient cars for commuting and renting larger vehicles for their family. an suv, for instance, for weekends like this. >> what about the housing market? it's starting to turn around, it seems. >> this is good news all around i think. what's really interesting is a lot of data out, one of the points that i thought was most striking is the average new ho
