president chiu has his legislation and will they -- go back to regina. president chiu: i do want to say that i am happy that we came to an agreement around business tax reform that hopefully will help the small business communities and job creation and that being said, i was able to watch a portion of the proceedings in -- and planned to look at the presentations later today or this week. i also want to agree with the expression of incredible frustration from the small business community on, frankly, the fed scholastic, and local government getting -- being unable to get a good handle on this. from our perspective from the local level, these laws are set by the federal americans with disabilities act. there were further complicated by state legislation and the legislation we have in front of us i have put forth was my best attempt given what our city attorney said we were allowed to do here locally to help move the ball on this. i want to mention two quick things. i did have a conversation with senator dianne feinstein about this issue some months back.

in our office -- our office has done with the work -- done w ork to talk about how we can coordinate our efforts. regina dickerson has promoted our brochures but the department can do more and develop a process for resolving conflicts when access is the goal. one idea would be to establish a prepublication building process -- permit process for you ask the departments to come together and we and on how the different proposed -- weigh in on how the different proposed solutions will be affected by the codes. my closing thoughts for a small- business owner is that the corrective, that you keep records because once they have started to do the work, once they have put together the plan for the work they intend to do, you need to be able to demonstrate that good faith effort that you are addressing your obligations that are readily achievable. and if the business owner does receive a demand letter, they should consult with an attorney immediately. when you send your response, including a brief summary of the good work that you have done at your property. show that you have taken this seriously and you have a

it has got to be our small business community. regina and steve said we could use help. the revolving loan fund was used up. instantly would put the money in there. we that the board of supervisors to revive it. we have $1 million committed today along with wells fargo $500,000. it is there and will be used fast. in the next budget for the next team of years, we have already got plans for the whole $5 million. as long as it is there, people will use it. we know small businesses are reviving our economy and creating the level of investor confidence we want to see. not just in mid-market. all neighborhood corridors will get the benefit. that is why we signaled these revolving loans to reach out to the neighborhoods in the city, to invest in the neighborhoods. they are going to help revive. i tell people i am sick and tired of seeing empty storefronts in different parts of the city. we assure you we will work with institutions like wells fargo and others to get the money out as they have done. let me give a shout out again to wells. not only have they loaned small businesse
