reginald dwayne. that's referred to by the new york book review as a powerful work of lyric, art and de force indictment of the carceral industrial state. reginald dwayne betts is poetry collection felon won the acp image award, the american book award and was finalist for the 2019 los angeles times book prize. also the author of two other poetry collections and a memoir he received the 2019 national magazine award for his new york times magazine essay about his journey from prison inmate to becoming a of wales yale school and an attorney. his other honors include a guggenheim fellowship, a 2021 macarthur genius grant, and a radcliffe fellowship from harvard. he's the founder executive director of freedom reads a non not for profit institution devoted to greater access to literature in prison. dwayne joins us tonight with his latest redaction created in collaboration with visual. visual artist titus capper. redaction is a multimedia examination of the relationship between and incarceration in america, specifically addressing the issue of cash bail referred to by its authors as a journey through words and images meant to trouble. one review calls it a brillia
