senior legal affairs correspondent paula reid joining us now. paula, so good to see you. you helped break this story or gaetz's ex-girlfriend's cooperation. what more can you tell us? >> fredericka, this woman is a former capitol hill staffer. she did not work for the congressman, she worked for a different lawmaker, but she was linked to congressman gaetz in the summer of 2017. that is the time period that's really critical in the investigation into whether he may have had sex with an underage girl. to be clear, this ex-girlfriend is not the underage girl at the center of this investigation. these are two different people. but the fact that his ex-girlfriend has now signaled she will cooperate, this is really significant for investigators because they have records of hundreds of transactions, including some that allegedly show payments for sex, and they hope this witness might be able to help them make sense of some of these records. the congressman is being investigated for possibly violating federal sex trafficking, prostitution and public corruption laws and are also

paula reid is following this for us, what have we learned about these legal bills and where trump factorshat several of the associates are pressing the rnc and former president trump to compensate giuliani for the work he did to challenge the election results. they want him to get this money to help subsidize the current legal bills he's facing. one of his associates told me it's going to cost him a few million dollars, at least, to defend himself in the ongoing criminal investigation in new york. now, the trump campaign operation raised a stnl amount of money in the weeks following the election to challenge the results, and these associates are calling for giuliani to be paid out of the funds. one of the most vocal advocates is giuliani's son andrew, who worked in the trump white house, he told cnn he believes once the former president is aware of this issue that he will, quote, indemnify giuliani, but cnn learned the former president is aware of these debts, he's aware of the issue and an associate has informed him, we also have learned that giuliani's personal attorney robert costello
