flurry of activity last night with lawmakers as they struck deals on a wide range of bills to try to rein in that industry. first off, they created what's called a bureau of medical marijuana regulation to oversee every aspect of the industry from cultivation to retail distribution. next, cities and counties still have the right to ban medical marijuana businesses. individuals will have the right to grow it themselves. the deal also addresses some of the environmental damage done by outdoor crops that steal water and pollute forests are chemicals. all these measures will be up for a vote today when lawmakers adjourn for the year. also up for a vote the "end of life option" act otherwise known as the "right to die" or assisted suicide. it would allow doctors to prescribe a lethal dose of drugs for those who are terminally ill. it's modeled on other laws the patient must submit two verbal requests 15 days apart and then a written request to a doctor signed in front of two witnesses. there's been emotional debate for years but it took a new urgency when brittany maynard moved from california
