the verdict is in in the hans reiser trial. the announcement coming just minutes ago in the wrongful death suit brought by his own children. nbc bay area's bob redell is live at the hayward hall of justice with the latest. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. this was a unanimous verdict for the jury that was trying to figure out whether hans reiser was liable or not liable in the murder of his wife, nina. they did find him liable and the surprise is how much damages they awarded to his two children who are suing him for the death of their mother. the plaintiff's attorney was asking for $10 million for each child in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive. well, the jury came back with $25 million for each child plus another $10 million total in damages. so basically you're looking at $30 million for each child for the death of their mother. the jury just announcing this verdict within the past five minutes here at the hayward hall of justice. we spoke with arturo gonzalez. he is the children's at
