executive director reiskin: just a couple other quick things. just some updates on work happening around town. jfk boulevard through golden gate cart -- golden gate park -- the separated by plane is under construction. we have just about completed the first phase, which is installing curb ramps and installing some catch basins. will be starting this week the second phase, which is doing the actual striping, which will take a little over a month to get done, working with rec and park, the museums, and the other impacted stakeholders. it is a great project which will soon make for a safer and smoother ride on your bike through golden gate park. that is great news. we have been making a number of presentations, doing a lot of community work on this. we are honing in on a recommended design. it is a design that has parking impacts. we are looking at ways to mitigate those impacts. we are planning to go out this month to hold a community meeting to bring back the feedback we have gathered, and what the current thinking is -- also what we are thinking

give us a hand and made -- make chris hayashi directly under director reiskin. chairman nolan: thank you. secretary boomer: [reading names] chairman nolan: good afternoon. >> hello, i am -- as you look at reforms coming up here shortly, there is no way you are going to be avoiding a lot of drivers and stakeholders here. i want to remind you folks about what the key for the industry has been. i purchased desoto cab company last year. i had a very i opening experience in san francisco, and i want to highlight some things that i think are seriously accepted as problems in the industry as you try to address them in the weeks and months. first, there is not enough taxis in san francisco, and the taxis that we are using, more than half of the 1500 plus taxicab's we have are not picking up any neighborhood calls, paratransit, disabled communities, some of those we currently have in service, less than half are actually serving the neighborhoods and the public. the rest are at the airport and taking -- that is one of the serious problems we have in terms of availability.

ed reiskin, supervisor carmen chu, micro-deputy directors, thank you all for coming out.t to lead the department. i feel really good that we had a very good place with the city's capital planning that was led by mayor lee many years ago. we were able to schedule our projects and were able to pass a bonds. as you heard, with the hospital, we just started work on the cruise terminal where we actually got the team to continue the demolition to bring that project to fruition. we have the new police headquarters down on third street. we have several libraries, market street. we have so many great project. i feel very fortunate to come in with this gift of being able to work with all the public works staff, with the staff from other agencies, mta, the police department, and all these city agencies. most importantly, as the new director, i cannot forget where i came from. i did come from the community, and i am a very strong community organizer, and i will continue to spend a lot of time in my community to listen to what their needs are and what kinds of results they expect from
