director reiskin. >> director reiskin: good afternoon members of the staff and public. in honor of the chair. i have a short director's r eport. just a couple of quick h ighlights. with regard to vision zero. i wanted to remind you and public play streets is launching its second season on neighborhood streets in the c ity. this is a program that lets residents temporarily transform their block to safe car street place for friends and neighbors come together and get active. it's like a mini-street. first year neighbors and community organizes created street events. we encourage folks to sign up. just searchor play streets all the information is there. got really good feedback -- i don't know if the video is p osted. the group who did that play streets last year, made little video. it gives how great -- it gives you great picture what play street is and hopefully encourage other join in. at the last meeting, you asked for update on scooters. here's an update on scooters. the deadline for the permit program and pilot for people to submit applications was couple of days aft

reiskin did not mention there was a new transit sign up. on saturday, with the significant service changes. there is, at the same time, a transit operator shortage. there are open runs. and service not going out is scheduled a the green division and for part timers on the bus side. this impacts passengers pretty significantly. i have not been out there. there's only an acting superintendent who's also serving as the transportation superintendent at kirkland. this is a significant facility that needs full time person out there. also, related to the service changes. the terminal now known as the sales force, terminal center, really was not ready for muny and they've had to do some work arounds for the trolley coaches involving pulling the poles. and routing continues to use first mission rather than s taying on market. i hope that routing will be reexamined. just to conclude on this item, i understand there's no july 3rd meeting of this board. a number of items will be heard july 17th a month from now that i expect to be controversial. i hope

aa for consideration and some concerns with expressed, director reiskin said we would be happy to talk with these folks how to get their employees to work. i want to put out there, if we are sort of expecting everybody to be able to park for free on the street all the time, that's going to be a challenge. there's just limited parking. one of the main themes we have pulled out of this rpp reform project in general is more cars than spaces across the city and there's no way to provide free parking for everybody. it touches on something that came up frequently during our outreach. lots of different groups saying we would like permits. we have a good reason why we need to be moving around, all sorts of groups from realtors to p.d.r. workers to non-profit workers to workers who work late at night at restaurants and things like that. if we give parking to everybody who has a reasonable story why they need them then the permits become less effective. i think one of the things not captured in the transportation code revision but we have taken away from this reform project is exactly what a lot
