ed reiskin to medallions picked up at s.f.o., waive the transfer fee for three years but in terms of corporate and pre-k medallions, we are not there yet. am i correct? >> so that is my view, and where i would say we are not there, i would like to hear back from the city attorney whether we can pursue the idea of simply suspending those permits -- well, i think there's two things. i think board members want to better understand who the corporate medallion holders are are before we nonrenew those. we've certainly heard from the corporate medallion holders loud and clearly and eloquently. what i'm saying, me personally, i would not want to undo those medallions in a way that cannot be fixed when we're unsure of the effect it's going to have on the market. what i would be supportive of is the proposal whereby once you have those airport restrictions in place, we suspend the medallions for a year to see if it has the intended effect, and if it does not undo the suspension so there's no needless pain to those medallion holders. >> that's what the part that the city important would need to

. >> good afternoon, chair brinkman, sfmta directors, director reiskin. i'm karen flood. our position on this issue on 6th street in particular is we certainly support many of the pedestrian improvements here but we cannot support the removal of the southbound lane. we did not enter into this position lightly we are very familiar with this position of closing or keeping streets open as we debated that on stockton street and we are currently involved in the powell street project with sfmta and we certainly appreciate all the staff time that's gone into those projects. so thank you for that. but with regard to this issue. vision zero, clearly very important city policy. we appreciate that. we understand that 6th street has high pedestrian fatalities and injuries so we certainly want to support that. but when i heard from all of our stakeholders many of them are here today, many hotels, retailers, other stakeholders as well, this is a vital corridor, artery to 280. the area is already congested we need to keep the traffic moving to and from, not just the visitors, deliveries

second question may be appropriately directed to director reiskin, i will let you figure out how to do this. when we widen a sidewalk as director torres noted and some speakers including mr. jordan, a 32-year resident, thank you, sir for coming down and offering us your perspective, it's helpful. different issues arise on the sidewalk. in the process of widening will we coordinate with d.p.w. and other agencies to make sure they are treating this sidewalk the way you treat a 15-foot sidewalk as opposed to the previous sidewalk? >> i think the project has already engaged with numerous other agencies. there's been a large multiagency effort to deal with some of the street issues in this area for probably more than a year now. it's something that is coordinated out of 1011 turk, the city's emergency operation center. already the social services, the public health, police, public works resources that are focused on the area. and we will be working with public works and i would say more importantly, the community in terms of what you heard, i think speakers referenced in terms of design. an
