a woman convicted in the reno murder has been granted a new trial based on this dna evidence. halbauer tells me i was very surprised by this. i never, ever committed rape or murder. i never did anything like that. authorities believe halbauer committed the bay area killings while out on bail for other crimes in nevada, and right before he was convicted of raping a nevada woman in 1976. he says he was wrongly imprisoned and escaped twice. while on the run the second time, he says he stole a car and traveled to oregon. he admits to stabbing a woman multiple times there, saying, i was extremely desperate and insanely motivated. i wanted to get away from the crimes committed against me. i was headed to canada. he went on to say i'm sorry. i wish i could take it back. so if halbauer is capable of stabbing an oregon woman who survived her attack, why won't he admit to the two gypsy hill murders? authorities say his dna was found at the bay area crime scenes. >> it is time to bring this man to justice for the murders that we can clearly prove at this point and bring some closure to t
