but rain in the las vegas desert and snow in reno could keep some potential voters from the polls. has the forecast made an impact yet? >> well, john, it is indeed a gray day in the silver state. impact is potentially longer lines, but as you mentioned, this may pack more of a punch up north near reno, where they are expecting the wintry mix, a mix of snow and rain, a big band coming through heading for this afternoon. now, reno was blue leaning somewhat politically purple but the more rural and red counties to the east of the city in the center of the state where adam laxalt has wagered that record turnout could offset more urban areas. and feels nevada's early voting gave republicans more of an edge than expected. >> the democrats, after two weeks of early vote, that's in-person, mail, this is their time, when they are supposed to build their big firewall, they are only up just over 1%. we are going to win election day. and as long as people turn out on election day -- >> as long as they do, given this weather. early voting numbers give democrats 1.4% advantage over republicans,

and guad is in reno. you are in one of the districts with a house race there.yet it seems to be changing somewhat. what is causing this change. >> that's right, jose. very historically democratic henry cuear has served the district the last 17 years. he is working to retain that seat. but this is a shift we began to see happening in the years after trump was elected. when donald trump first ran in 2016, he got 23% of the vote in this district. that's around the same amount as romney in 2012. by 2020, that number was up to 38%. we were beginning to give republicans a second look and beginning to vote for more of the republicans. and that is the landscape in which henry cuer is running and why in the ads we are seeing in south texas he is touting his efforts to secure the border, leaning into his position as a moderate democrat in hopes to fend off the challenge from kathy garcia. >> meanwhile, the gop has house minority leader mccarthy, former chair mcdaniel, former house speaker newt gingrich campaigning in the region. governor abbott will be holding his electi

two main sources in nevada, one is washo county, reno. there are 61,000 uncounted mail ballots there. it's a bit of a mix here. about 2/3 of them arrived before election day. 1/3 arrived on election day. we do know the ones that arrived on election day by party registration are more republican than the ones that arrived before election day. waiting for an update. they're telling us tonight it will be an update from washo county. won't be all 61,000. it will be a small one. then there is -- we don't know the number, this is the biggest wild-card in nevada. it may be the biggest wild card in the senate. we don't know how many votes there are left in clark county which is 70% of the state other than we know they got 27,000 that they're processing right now and they may be reporting out tonight. they're talking about votes that arrived in the mail on election day and you're talking about votes that were dropped off at ballot boxes on monday. that's not the totality of the remaining vote. we know there will be more in addition to that. that's

john, if i can bring you in here to look at nevada, hospitality is a big one, reno and las vegas, youo up to reno, washoe county, a split of 11,000 votes in the 2020 presidential election and head down to the southern part of the state, las vegas, clark county, a difference of 90,000 votes there. these are the two counties where the largest populations of votes will come in, and if i do finish off highlighting arizona, one of the toss-ups here, and some of the key counties, home to phoenix, the capital in arizona, maricopa county, 69% of the votes come from there. look how close it was in the 2020 presidential election. john, these are two of the toss-ups. i'll finish off with pennsylvania since mike roe is coming up, you look at the president's comments on the fossil fuels industry, that matters to pennsylvania. 1.2% margin in the presidential election, so many of these counties could be big swings to the republican party based on inflation and crime, john. >> john: you can almost divide that state in half, maybe a little bit further west than center, and that whole area of the state

i will show you there first of all, this is where reno is, we just got a big batch, 10,000. we have been told that there could be 20,000 here. but this batch of votes, cortez masto wins 5821 of them, and laxalt wins 46 91. so that is 53% for cortez masto. she gets 53% of the new batch of votes. that is a bit less than she was doing last night. so what that does statewide, it cuts that lead that laxalt has. he still holds the lead, it is now down to 821 votes. as you can see, one tenth of 1%. that is his lead. again, we were told that there could be 20, 000, that was 10,000 in change. we are trying to find that now, if that is it from what you for the night, and if that is it from wash oh at all. and outside, it may be that we will see what is left in nevada, it, there is a small amount where laxalt could have a few thousand more votes over cortez masto. then there is clark county and there is 25, 000, i should say about 24,000 mail-in ballots that we know are still to come here. there is nearly 6000 provisional ballots, and there is also several thousand of these ballots tha

the same has been the case in this county where reno is. last night, like it has been the last three nights, it was a good night for cortez masto. that lead that adam had shrunk down to 862 votes. it is basically a death by thousand cuts for that lead that he maintained after election day. it is worth just noting that on election day the people voted in person, heavily favored adam laxalt. since then, what has been happening in the state is that they have been counting those mail-in ballots. those mail-in ballots, specifically here in clark county and washable county have broken very, very heavily for cortez masto. what we are looking at is maybe tens of thousands of votes to drop tonight. if that trend continues, you could conceivably have, by the end of the night, cortez masto with a lead and potentially thousands of votes ahead of adam laxalt. >> okay, we know we're gonna be watching that very closely. you said 2:30 pm eastern. okay, two and half, three and a half hours for that. thank you very much stephanie. we will join me right now m

there are about 110,000 ballots left in reno and las vegas. we know that. there's also mail that's going to continue to come in until saturday. they can count it if it was postmarked either tuesday or before. catherine cortez masto, those ballots that were released yesterday in clark county and washoe county where reno is, won over 60% of the ballots, which is why she's been able to slash 7,000 votes off of adam laxalt's statewide lead. if that pattern continues she is going to easily surpass him and win the race. but she doesn't have to keep up that kind of pace to do it, andrea. if she gets about 55% or so of those remaining ballots, she will still win. now one minor caveat here, there are thousands of ballots left, maybe four or five thousand ballots left in rural nevada that will favor laxalt. >> what about the governor there, john? is he in as strong of a position potentially as senator catherine cortez masto? >> that's the right question, katy. listen the bottom line is that he has trailed behind catherine cortez masto the entire time in polls and now

but we also have been told, there are indications from washoe county where reno is that around 11:00 p.m. eastern tonight, 20,000 more votes are going to be released from there. and again, the same thing obtains. if these are from reno, from washoe, if they continue to be democratic friendly and last night's batch, there was for cortez masto. that's another big batch of votes where she could gain further ground. we're in a situation, that is probably based on the way they have been doing things, although i'll look into this as soon as i get off the air, that's probably the lone batch from clark county tonight. that's more than we were expecting to come out of clark county tonight. and we are, as i said, expecting later tonight 20,000 to come out of washoe county. last night, we had a big batch come from washoe county, and cortez masto was getting 61% of them. if she's getting anything like that tonight, then she will move into the lead. she'll move into the lead state-wide by several,thousand votes. then what you would have is another 24,000 vote to come from clark where every indica
