the faster republicans can build a post-trump party. again, of course, that comes far from given, right? think of it this way, donald trump could utterly disappear from public, never appear in public once again from now until election day, still have a pretty good shot of winning the white house and republicans flipping the senate. like a queen, maybe. nd th makes it all the more important that, again, the country pro-democracy coalition does the hard work of preventing that outcome. because the reality is winning a clear majority is not enough. listen to this. the republican party of the united states, one of two major parties, the party has won the popular vote one time since the fall of the berlin wall. say it again. only one time since the collapse of the iron curtain have republicans managed a national majority in a presidential election. so it is incumbent on democrats to win by such a large margin that overcomes the structural advantages against them. even some republicans know this is the case, like former congresswoman liz chen

use, party ideas tide, gallup says republican ideas not republican. it shifted slightly with harris in the race, but we are still running essential parity in terms of partisanship. trump won where he was down seven, we are now tied. the other thing that has happened, i think it was sort of a pennsylvania race. pennsylvania in 2016, the democrats had a 10 point registration advantage over republicans. 2020 it was about 7.5%. so between eight years, the republicans have shifted and the registration margin is half what it used to be. that's happened in north carolina, nevada. republicans from now to january, they narrowed the democratic registration advantage. arizona republicans abound a little bit. and then on top of all this, of course, the other advantage, and i think the other thing that will happen is i think the vice president has had an incredibly successful five or six weeks, credit to her and her campaign. but it has happened. and i think we are in a place now would a candidate has to win the race. i think september 10 is incredibly consequenti
