before we get into the specifics of those revelations. i am just curious.s the vibe in the house on the other side of the aisle among your colleagues that are giving all of these revelations? the hearings now are pushing into july. the committee members continually being reminded that this is an ongoing investigation. which in my mind, suggest expanding the investigation. so do you see any kind of nervousness among the gop members right now? are they just like whatever? >> they certainly haven't been confessing, if that's what you are asking for. although asking for pardons is pretty close to a confession. you know, we hear from the january 6th committee that they are getting more evidence. they've taken a pause in the hearing to digest some of the evidence that they have received just in the last week or so. certainly members of the committee looked very confident and they keep suggesting that there is more evidence to come that we are far from kind of bombshells here. you know, it is kind of hard to read the mood on the other side of the aisle now. some p

some republican lawmakers tell cnn they are privately stunned and disturbed by the new revelations. the keywords there is privately, the other of course is the stunned part. joining us now cnn's melanie zanona responsible for some of this reporting live in washington. tell us what you're hearing. >> john, you are so right to point put the difference between what they're saying publicly and privately. publicly republicans have really tried to down play this testimony, but privately quite a few of them had admitted to me that they think this is really damaging testimony and they were particularly alarmed by the fact that trump knew the crowd was armed and dangerous and that he egged them on anyway. in fact, wanted to join them at the capitol. i had one senior house republican, someone who did not vote for impeachment we should point out told me they thought there would be indictments after this testimony potential for mark meadows or trump himself. another republican was joking with me after watching the hearing they wanted to throw their lunch against the wall which is something we h

we begin this morning with a special hour on another stunning week of revelations from historic publicngs of the january 6th select committee. we have the clearest picture yet of a president donald trump's farfetched plot to overturn the 2020 election loss in a run up to the attack on the capitol and his role to induce violence. they presented evidence that trump was told numerous times that he had lost the election but lied about fried anyway. this was a desperate attempt to remain in power. the hearings give us new insights into trump's bullying campaign against a former vice president mike pence. it argued that they launched onto a proposal by john eastman, that pence had the power to single-handedly ignore the will of the american people. they blocked joe biden's legitimate win. in more detail than ever before, the committee argued that both trump and eastman were aware that this plot was not just unconstitutional, but also illegal. they still proceeded to put the squeeze on pence. numerous testimonies from advisers and even from trump's daughter, ivanka, recounted how they riled i
