is now sounding the alarm as dangerous scams targeting teens are on the rise here in the bay area reyna harvey is in the studio with more >> yet so darren james, the san francisco fbi office now warning parents and caregivers about your child's online activity. they say cases of sextortion targeting minors are now on the rise. so sextortion is when suspects course victims into sending him sexually explicit images of themselves and then threaten to share the images online oftentimes is in exchange for money. this is often in the form of gift cards, mobile payments or crypto. the fbi says sextortion is let some victims to even self harm or even commit suicide. issue is being seen across the country. so from october 2021, to march of 2023, the fbi received over 13,000 reports of online financial sextortion of minors over 12,000 minors were involved. and unfortunately that lead to 20 suicides. the biggest jump in cases was from last year from october 2022. to march of 2023. they saw a 20% rise in sextortion for money. now the victims in the increased cases are 14 to 17 year-old boys. the fb

i'm reyna harvey. >> i want to get you moving on a monday morning. i know john, a little cup that raising. good morning to yeah, my hands have yet or about that is still brigid even back indoors. that is definitely a cold start to this day. >> january has not been messed around. we rain to start the month. a good dose of snowfall already in the sierra and now we're kicking off our week of january with a look at this. some clear conditions, but some really cold conditions, freezing temperatures with frost advisories for the vast majority of the bay area anywhere lit up in blue is currently under a frost advisory, which includes about everyone except for the immediate bayshore in the immediate coastline. these will remain through 10:00am with temperatures falling well down towards freezing. let's get a look at some of these numbers right now. dublin, you're sitting at 31 degrees just below freezing while livermore at 32. we've got 30's along the bay shore in mountain view, san jose hayward and fremont. and then some 40's in spots like san francisco and
