reynosa's factories often run 24 hours a day to keep up with global demand.ut to add insult to injury, companies like lg electronics have found a way to limit their liability when workers get hurt. it is common for big companies to contract smaller more anonymous ones to manufacture parts before final assembly. just driving down the road here we can see the lg electronics plant clearly labeled with the company logos. but where a lot of the manufacturing of their tvs actually takes place is just a short drive down the road here in a factory that's labeled only hd electronics. here at the imposing facility of hd electronics, the security guards and darkened windows, is where castro had his accident. >> lot of corporations decided to go to mexico in order to avoid lawsuits in the u.s. lawsuits that would probably result in million dollar settlements, large, large settlements. i was able to stand up a lot straighter than -- >> in nearby edinburgh, texas, we were able to meet joe. >> what are the conditions like for workers inside these factories? >> unfortunately

paul beban takes a look at the situation. >> i'm on a dusty back street here in reynosa. like so many border towns, it struggles with poverty, drug cartel related violence and i also a way station for those from guatemala, honduras, el salvador. this compound right here is a hostel, a shelter where people might spend a night or two before trying to make it across the rio grande, right behind the compound behind these trees, is the last push to make it across the border into the united states. >> right now, the number of people trying to make that journey is on the rise especially among people under 18. this october, nearly twice the number of unaccompanied minors were caught. we spoke to one young woman we can only identify by the name of maria. for her security, we can't show her face. mexican immigration officials brought her here to a government run center in reynosa after she was captured at a nearby safe house. she said the violence in her home country of el salvador led her to leave. an aunt in texas sent the money to pay human smugglers after she saw a man murder h

like many mexican border towns, reynosa is wracked with crime and violence.s are shaken down for money. the plan was for the smugglers to bring maria and the others to the rio grande and they would swim or raft across to texas to a place like this, but before that could happen, maria said the smugglers stole everybody's money and cell phones and then disappeared moments before the safe house was raided by mexican police. >> no more than 10 minutes later, the police arrived. when we heard the police, we all hit the floor. >> her journey ended before she came a u.s. border patrol statistic, but looking at record of minors caught crossing the border from owing through october of 2014 and compare them with this year, you see much higher numbers and rising at a much faster rate. the thing i want to point out, manufacturing, reynosa is small business. you can't build a car in the united states without products from mexico. when i tell people from michigan that, they look at me like i'm a crazy person. those are federal legislators who do not realize the importance. if you go to korea, i mention korea because it's like a country on steroids with technology. if you lock at that and if you look at that and the pacific trade agreement, it's a worldwide deal. you just can't be that restrictive. i know it's a political, probably, question more than than a real economic question. we're not dealing from an economic at some point. mexico gets it. we have a japanese chamber of commerce, panasonic, alpine, sony are all located there, because of their trade agreement with mexico and japan. as they expand those trade agreements, there will be more things getting shipped over here from mexico instead of being manufactured here. we just need to get onboard. >> what are your views on the significance of what's going on, particularly as it relates
