corner of happy and healthy. >>> at the chatham county detention center in savannah, georgia, rhett manningoluntary manslaughter for hitting a man with his car and received a five-year sentence. manning's lawyer then petitioned the judge to give him status under the first offender act, a georgia law that allows some first-time felons to have their convictions purged from their record after they complete their sentences. now manning has returned from court where a judge has given him his answer. >> got some good news, bad news, no news? >> pretty good news and just got to figure the rest of it out. >> okay, that's good, that's good. >> best news, best news. >> basically the judge granted me the first offender's. that means when i've completed the sentence i won't be considered a convicted felon. not having a felony on my record is very important to me because i have a job that requires no felonies. i have children to support, family to support, basically supporting myself. life after jail. so that's all i'm trying to keep, keep a little bit of life after this whole experience i got going on.
