>> rhiannon it's it is a very good example of labour going after single people and going after singlee that live at home. but ultimately this is labour trying to increase revenue for local councils. now my friends over at the taxpayers alliance do some really great work on actually showing and showing the transparency around the fact that so many councils just waste our money. they spend huge amounts of money on cycle lessons and actually in action day last year in guildford, guildford council , where one of guildford council, where one of their buses had £600,000 in remuneration in a single year. this is absurd. councils certainly don't need any more money and they are not spending the money they already raise very well. you'd think, given how badly the winter fuel payment has gone down. >> i mean, it's been a pr disaster. labour are very quickly becoming seen as the nasty party at the moment. they can't surely, tom now say if you are a pensioner, if you are a widow or widower and you live on your own in a nice big house, and you pay a lot of council tax, we want 25% more council tax

rhiannon ally is here with with that story. good to see you. good morning. >> good morning, robin.he olympic gymnast filed a second appeal to overturn the decision to strip her of the medal. this one urging switzerland supreme court to require the court of arbitration for sport to reopen the case citing new evidence. that evidence is footage that was filmed by a documentary crew that was following her teammate simone biles at the 2024 paris olympics. childs' coach can be heard asking for inquiry into childs floor routine twice within what appears to be the one minute deadline. he was initially successful moving her from fifth to third. but days later the court of arbitration voided it saying the coach's appeal was filed four seconds too late giving the bronze medal to romania. the new appeal was filed in conjunction with a similar application from usa gymnastics. her legal team has called this crucial, guys, but we just don't know yet if this is enough to get her bronze medal back. >> robin: thank you. coming up in our gma morning menu, jacinda ardern is here for climate week, cele

rhiannon ally is here with details. through. >> the ceo of a top supermarket chain, kroger, is vowing to low r prices but only if a proposed merger is approved. the ceo is trying to save his company's proposed merger with albertson's. the government wants to block the $24 billion merger because it claims it would eliminate competition and lead to higher food prices. but the kroger told a court hearing the merger would allow companies to lower prices in an effort to compete with wal-mart and costco. he is pledging to cut them by $1 billion on day one if the merger approved. vice president harris said on the campaign trail she will crack down on prices while former president trump has campaigned on inflation, reminding the public that grocery prices have increased by more than 20% under president biden. now, this court hearing on the proposed merger is expected to last through next week so we'll see what happens, robin. >> robin: we will. thank you very much for that. now the important test for women that many dread. now
