renato janine ribeiro, thank you very much. —— pro. warming following a major report by climate scientists, to be published in a few hours time. the intergovernmental panel on climate change will release its latest assessment in south korea. 0ur science editor, david shukman, reports from seoul. the scientists who have been meeting here in south korea have been trying to work out something fundamentally important. what happens when the world warms up to different temperatures? now, at the moment we‘re on course for a rise of at least three degrees celsius. that‘s compared to the temperature is century ago and that‘s thought to be really dangerous. so an international treaty on climate change, the paris agreement, set a limit of two degrees, and for a long time that‘s been considered safe. but now, new research says a lower limit of 1.5 degrees is needed to avoid some really damaging impacts, particularly in developing countries. and bear in mind that the world has already warmed at least one degree celsius over the last 100 years. so w
