got him black listed by the nra for arguing that extreme politics in the focus on fund raising has corrupted the organization while distorting the opinions of many of the nra's members. richardfor being with us tonight. >> thank you for having me. >> i first want to ask you about this divide between the influence and the nra and we've heard democrats in particular criticize the nra as being funded by gun manufacturers and then pouring that funding into political candidates while republicans argue it is a grass roots organization that is run by its membership. from your perspective, and your role at the nra, how would you describe the nr a's motivations? >> well, the nra is comprised of millions of firearm owners in this country. s it's true that the gun industry put money in the nra but they have very little say in the nra's policy, contrary to how it may look from the outside. it's the membership through the elected board of directors of the nra that sets nra's policy. >> from your perspective, what created your disillusionment with the nra? why did you decide to write the book? >> i wasn't so much disillusi disillusioned with nra, i'm a member and support what they stand f
