joining me now is democratic senator from connecticut richard bloomenthal., thank you very much. our condolences to you and all the people of connecticut and what you have all experienced as you've been through these last days. unimaginable. >> it has been three days i don't want to relive. >> i'm sure. >> thank you. >> we've seen some of your colleagues. i interviewed senator manchin yesterday, and this is, you know, as you know better than anyone, senator manchin had done a campaign commercial, which, you know, bragged about his gun background in the campaign commercial where he showed us his long gun and was out taking target practice, so no one has been more identified in the senate with the nra than he. do you think that he and others will now be willing to look at the assault weapon ban, for instance, that senator feinstein has proposed and that now the white house has endorsed today? >> and i'm supporting that proposal along with the restrictions on high class c magazines, other measures that we can take to prevent gun violence. i think senator manchi

i asked the connecticut senator, richard bloomenthal earlier today, what he expects to happen. >> we'resation i am going to have with my colleagues. today i'm not going to discuss it out of respect to the families. and i'm going to be back again tomorrow. but i'm going to go to washington and i'm going to raise this issue, and i think it's time for the conversation to be renewed. for the dialogue to begin again, and for the senate to consider whether that is necessary. >> let's bring in our white house correspondent briann brianna keilar. what do you see? >> president obama will be headed to newtown to speak at an interfaith vigil. he will be offering his condolences, no doubt striking a tone of uniyuan but not talking about what he sees as the solutions to avert something like this. the white house feels that they don't want to get into specifics about policies they might pursue in the wake of this tragedy. they're afraid that it would be counterproductive, that it would be inappropriate considering this tragedy just happened. but the sense that i gotten, wolf, is what president obama
