now reporter elise brown was there the police chief praised officers for their hard work yesterday there was a lot going on he says police a difference. newport news police chief richard myers praising witnesses for helping police thursday. it's a great example of what can happen when the community get involved and gage and provide this information officers responded to what they thought was a car crash on fourteenth and we come inside of the van police found two men ages thirty and thirty eight shot to death based on witnesses. meyer says please or a due date descriptions and directions of travel for two suspects at eleven o nine the sergeant here or the two suspects in the thirteen hundred block of roanoke avenue. meyer says and that sergeant confronted one suspect who police say had a gun. the sergeant gave commands to the suspect did not comply and the sergeant discharge his department the thirty three year old suspect and then ran away in allegedly shot his gun in an unknown direction. a second officer and then caught up with the suspect who police say was still armed and outside her residence. meyer said the officer told the suspect to drop the weapon the suspec

brown was also fired for allowing taylor to handle the situation in such an abusive manner. the iowa supreme court has moines man convicted of second-degree murder in the 2013 beating death of richard dawes -- richard daughenbaugh. he was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison. the iowa supreme court says prosecutors have enough evidence to retry the case. in union county a stunning guilty plea in the courtroom. jerry dillinger told the court he shot and killed his sister-in-law loretta dillinger and disposed of her body in a pond. he also says he shot and killed michael robinson and buried him. investigators say robinson was loretta dillinger's boyfriend. jerry dillinger was immediately sentenced to two life prison terms. the community will come together today to remember a family that was killed in a house fire. services for 27-year-old amber, 9-year-old riley, 6-year-old autumn and 4-year-old brayden sorenson are all held at 10:30 this morning in southeast amber and her three children died last sunday in a house fire in boxholm. investigators believe a space heater may have sparblingd the time is 8:38. we'll switch back to our forecast. right? >> that's right. you look at
