this is richard byrd of wilmington. he's 87 years old and what a story he has to tell today. last friday, he spent roughly an hour with a man who police say carjacked him. >> he was never abusive. he was never, either verbally or physically. all the time we were in the car for an hour and 45 minutes. >> reporter: byrd as you hear rode around as a passenger in his own maroon kia suv with the suspect for quite some time. he describes somewhat of a courteous carjacker before he made off with his kia. >> i really did not feel threatened by him except the first part of the encounter he dropped me off down at i-95 and namaans road at the traffic light gave me back my cell phone and my wallet. >> reporter: according to the new castle county police web site, 23-year-old kale len jackson of new castle was wanted for the attack. it's not confirmed if he was the young man shot by upper merion township police at the mall last night but byrd's suv was recovered at the scene of the shooting. officers were attacked last night by a man with a vehicle that was stolen. >> he intentionally ramm
