nbc's chief foreign correspondent richard engle is in paris. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. the investigation here is under way. security officials are trying to determine the exact relationship between last week's attackers and the funerals for the victims have begun. they died in a hail of bullets in france last week but today they were laid to rest in the holyland. the bodies of four jewish hostages murdered in a kosher grocery on friday arrived in israel overnight. their funerals attended by thousands including the israeli prime minister. simultaneous in paris there was a service for three police officers posthumously awarded france's highest honor. this is an emotional time in france. the white house admits they should have sent a more senior representative to show solidarity. >> we should have sent someone with a higher profile. >> the wife of the man who murdered the four hostages is confirmed to be far beyond the reach of justice. the security camera footage shows her and a male companion arriving in turkey more than te
