. >> thank you for more on today's hearing, let's bring in former dallas fed president, richard fisheru. i'd love to start off, i want to get your take on today's hearing. i'd love to start off on this -- these resignations rosengren and caplan, particularly, who took your seat what are your thoughts about these questions? and many may be perception related, nonetheless, the decision caplan made to trade certain stocks and other financial instruments. >> well, neither of these bank presidents violated the existing rules. i think the rules are going to have to be changed it is a perception issue in the case of rob caplan, who's a very good policy maker and excellent successor to me, and did even better than me, i think, in managing the bank. the timing creates perception issues it's basically a risk mitigation strategy using calls and puts, which is almost incomprehensible to anybody who looks at the system and doesn't understand finance. it was timed very poorly so t was an area of judgment i think he made the right decision and i think erick did also, given his kidney problems. althou

michael: richard fisher, the previous dallas fed president, also had millions of dollars in securitiess not a good look, obviously, for people who do not like the fed. kaplan has a long history in the markets. he started at goldman sachs. he probably got all of the proper approvals. lisa: especially the types of stocks they are. 27 total stocks, holdings valued over a million dollars include apple, amazon, alphabet, facebook. these are the interest rate sensitive stocks. michael: we have been talking about this for several years. it is not unusual that someone would want to invest in them. i suppose you can make the argument that the fed zero rate policy has not done that much for any particular category of stocks. zero rates have helped all stocks. he has the t's crossed and the i's dotted. jonathan: michael mckee. lisa: he has been one of the most vocal about warning against financial exits. perhaps for that reason, the fed is a flashpoint for a lot of criticism. jonathan: yields are coming in this morning. we are down two basis points on 10's. equity market unchanged. tom keene is b

what after this press conference will i be sorry i didn't ask because it remains unclear >> richard fisherlots are moving into 2022 for rate increases. >> right. >> wouldn't that be concerning or are you assuming that itself in the cards already >> i think it's possible, but this is one of those funny things where i'm not sure it's concerning our fed survey says 2022 for the first rate hike. the futures market is priced that way so it seems like everybody expects it but as you know sometimes when the fed does what it expects, it freaks out anyway. we had the first round will be 2023 how much do you want to get all worked up about a quarter point in january 2023? i think the bigger question is, does the fed get spooked about inflation and hurry up and get the taper done and bring forward rate hikes that would be a real concern and something for the market to think about. but a single rate hike next year or late next year, early next year, 2023, is not something to be too worried about i suspect flu is said, survey says, did you hear yourself say that you just said that >> did i >> you did t

richard branson's flight to the edge of space. i mean, this has grounded his company, virgin galactic. >> yeah. officials say the rocket-powered jet veered off-course during its ascent back in july. cnn's kristin fishervirgin galactic is now acknowledging that it went out of its designated faa air space for about one minute and 40 seconds, as space ship 2 was returning, gliding back down to earth after its historic flight. now, virgin galactic is saying that at no point was the crew in danger, at no point was anybody on the ground or in any other aircraft in danger. this took place in a very remote part of new mexico, but the faa is investigating. and the reason this is so significant and potentially problematic is because just think if you're a pilot, commercial or private pilot, operating a normal airplane and you go out of your faa designated air space or you're caught flying at an altitude higher or lower than you should be, you could get into a ton of trouble. essentially, that is what the faa is accusing virgin galactic of doing, and virgin galactic now acknowledging it. so it appears what happened is during the ascent, spaceship 2's ascent, and this is according to the journalist who broke thi
