i'm richard lui at msnbc headquarters in new york. we are going to start this hour with breaking news we are watching happening in new jersey. a section of seaside park in ocean county on lockdown right now. this is after a pipe bomb-like device exploded inside a trash can just as thousands of runners were about to take part in a charity 5k run to benefit the military this morning. this happening about six hours ago. a senior law enforcement source telling nbc news that device went off, it was attached to another device or several other devices which did not go off in the initial blast. this footage you see here provided by news 12 new jersey shows the location of that explosion. the race was ultimately canceled after an unidentified suspicious backpack found on the site. fbi and atf assisting in the investigation. i want to bring in retired atf investigation in charge jim cavanaugh. we are getting some pictures there as you see on the screen of what appears to be that gash kwaj can. there is also the backpack i mentioned. tough to pu
