the years the organizations popped up called the john reese clubs which were sort of communist party orbit with a little more autonomous and richard wright john, other people like that -- [inaudible] >> and he will, shortly. >> yeah, then that and have this relationship in the kind of radical politics world of whatever joined the federal writers' project together but this was a trend that was going on all across literate world and it wasn't just long people. i talked about in the book sherwood anderson who had been an established writer for a long time but he came out as a fervent, is for a brief time after the depression and he signed a letter with all these other well-known writers where during the 1932 election they were calling for a vote for the communist party candidates. >> -- ford and foster is what it was called. >> yet, with malcolm as part of it. >> he wrote part of the pamphlet. >> that was a sign of the times. anderson ended up becoming more of a staunch new dealer interferes after that. there's a lot of fluidity inches of what people think about their political approaches to the crisis that was afflicting the nation.
