anser hassan reports from richmond. >> reporter: richmond police are looking for possible suspects from last night's double homicide, double shooting. one man and one woman in their 30s are dead, a female is in the hospital this morning with life-threatening injuries. the shooting happened just after 10 p.m. sunday night. there is some indication that the shooting may be linked to another shooting from earlier sunday. as of right now, richmond police say they don't have any suspects in custody. and they have not been able to establish any cause or motive in the case. as for the richmond residents, it has been a rough three weekends. the 4th of july weekend three were shot, three others killed in richmond. last weekend, three men died of gunshot wounds after a gun battle in the iron triangle battle also in north richmond. last night's double shooting brings the total to eight people dead in just the past three weeks. now, we have calls out to richmond police. we are expecting to hear something within the next hour. we'll bring you those details as soon as they become available. grace? >>

four different shootings, some in richmond, some in north richmond but in all we're now hearing that four people were shot and killed. and here with me this morning is besa french. can you walk us through what happened. it seemed to keep going. >> we did have a shooting about 8:30 in south 39th and ohio where one person was shot. that person is expected to survive. we then had a shooting which resulted in a homicide at a little after 11:00 last night. a 19-year-old was shot and killed after visiting some friends in the area of the 3200 block of center avenue. we then had a shooting a few minutes later at about 11:15 at first and mcdonald where one person, 27-year-old, was shot and killed. at that location, a second victim was struck by gunfire but is expected to survive. >> reporter: we're now hearing two people shot and killed in north richmond which is county? >> right. unincorporated richmond area there were two shot in a double homicide in that jurisdiction. >> reporter: so what's going on here? was there any violence, street level violence leading up to this in the days before?

i spoke with richmond police this morning.y say they are not sure what's behind this but they are looking into the possibility that at least some of these shootings may be gang related. all of this gun fire happened really fast. the first at 8:30 as the sun was going down, a man was shot on ohio avenue near 39th. he's expected to survive. then two hours later, the sheriff's department telling us in north richmond near west ruby avenue two men shot, one of them killed. the victim there, 28 years old, both of them north richmond residents. less than 30 minutes later on the 3200 block of center, a 19-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting in his car. police telling us he had just finished visiting friends when he was killed. then ten minutes later two more people shot. this time near mcdonald avenue including a 27-year-old man who was killed. a police spokesperson says the three shootings are still under investigation. of course they are asking witnesses to please come forward. i asked if any wan was arrested and they say

district, you have six or seven sites, but not in that outer richmond. my hope is by looking a pilot projects like this you can help figure out how to expand and raise the awareness in other areas of the city and not just central areas you currently are located late. i appreciate supervisor cohen's comments. my understanding is with the pilot program, four of them are in district 3 areas where there is clear demand and the others are chosen in areas where there is clear demand for city car share, but that is my understanding. pfft supervisor cohen: when we are talking about clear demand -- in order for anything to be clear, it has to be bought about, there has to be analysis and data collection. when you look at the map, the car sure companies don't even exist. there is a pronounced need for those of you came to the hearing, there is a level of dysfunction with services on the southernmost eastern part of our neighborhoods. >> we very much appreciate the point you're making and would be supportive of the mta and administrators office identifying location

we have good bustlines in our richmond district. i'm always looking at creating more efficiencies and finding where the needs are. there have been some cuts over the years, so -- to bus lines, like along the outer richmond district area that have led many seniors without a bus route to get up the hill or to get down the hill to go either grocery shopping -- so we are looking at how the system might not be closely enough based on the needs of people like, especially seniors, or disabled people. there's also some bustlines that are less used in the richmond district that we are now working with the muni system to think about continuing but maybe reduce its frequency, but continue its access for many people that live in isolated parts of the city. i strongly support stronger youth discount passes and supporting the bus system so that younger people have strong access. we are trying to work with the school district right now and city agencies to ensure that young people get more support. we want them to be lifelong transit riders as wel
