california and amtrak get together they can make improvements on that line to help the movement of people in that corridor. go down to the washington, lynchburg newport news norfolk, richmond, virginia. the state of virginia and amtrak can come together, make those investments, and that's one of the fastest-growing corridors in america. i know the folks that represent norfolk and that part down in southern virginia and washington, d.c. growing area, passenger rail is essential. you got corridors all around. carolina raleigh, the technology corridor there in raleigh connecting to the largest city in the carolinas, charlotte. again, a state sponsored line. it's going to give north carolina the ability to work with amtrak, to have power when they make those investments to upgrade those lines. in some of these areas -- again, there's 19 -- 21 corridors in 19 states. this is really important. some of those fast-growing southern states look at this bill, this empowers the states, it has the reforms. so i believe that all members should be able to support this as real reform and improving amtrak. with that i reserve the balance of my time. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman r
