rick: thank you. bring you news from that event as it happens. jane: the dow is up her right now. the fed has been taking a look at interest rates. jenna, what are the expectations? >> we had declined of 1% yesterday across the board, and now we are up. this is typical activity ahead of a fed meeting. they will be dealing with the overnight lending rate. higher the rate, normally the moreç expensive it is for us to borrow money. right now it is near zero, and it is not expected to be moved very much. what isç important to investors is what the fed has to say about the economy, recovery, and how they feel on the moving forward. right now the markets are up ahead of those announcements. jane: thank you. rick: another way the slumping economy is impacting other countries. the amount of money mexican immigrants sending back to their families in mexico will draw up for the first time, not only that, some immigrants here in the u.s. are on the receiving end of family funds. steve centanni, quite a reversa

rick? >> you know, when you look at the plan, though, you can't help but wonder if it's like medicare and if it's like in many regards social security, for example. is there a place for the government to step in and either boost or compete with some of the folks out there in the health care industry? the private health care industry? >> right, rick, that's exactly the concern. the concern is when you have premiums that are 10% to 20% lower that private industry could have a hard time competing. that's the concern. now the authors of these bills and i've talked to their spoke people, they're going to be able to compete, plus there are provisions in the bill that say, hey, big companies, big employers, you can't put your employees on the public plan. it's hands off for you, at least for a certain period of time. so big companies would still pretty much by definition have to use private insurance, at least for a number of years. >> and then there's something else that we're going to be conside

and that's what you're supposed to be doing. >> rick: here's my question, bob.e have talked about the different blind spots in these aircraft and how sometimes the placement of the sun can get in the way of the pilot being able to see what's around him or her. why not always use the instrument in addition to the visuals? >> well, there are instruments. there is a specialized box that jet airliners use that reports the position of other aircraft in close proximity. it's an early warning system if you will of an impending midair collision. but when you are using a helicopter, and with helicopter traffic, let's say over a new cd may have as many as ten helicopters. i was the first to find o.j. simpson by 30 minutes. i was alone. but within 30 minutes i had 20 helicopters all fighting over the same airspace and we were on visual flight rules. hhs system, a specialized box reporting that sort of thing, traffic, impending traffickers is, wouldn't work. because you are flying in close proximity with aircraft. you really have to use visual flight rules. a fixed wing is

rick leventhal will tell us more. hi, rick. >> we're at one of more than 100 farmers market that operate in the new york area every week. this place is pretty busy today. they attract thousands of people. in some cases tens of thousands of people on a daily basis who are buying fresh fruits and vegetables from farms in the region. now, a lot of the people are using food stamp benefits here and at farmer's market across the country. this is a relatively new development. in many states they went to a paperless food stamp system where you get an atm card and you can use the card now at some farmer's markets, roughly 750 farmer's markets across the country because they now have the devices here. you can take a food stamp card, swipe it through.
