i'm rick deloria. like to start this morning by thanking the first responders from boston ems and boston fire department and the volunteer physicians, nurses and medical staff from the community have volunteered at the marathon. their services and heroic actions saved lives. we continue to work shoulder to shoulder with our partners at the police department and massachusetts state police as well at our other agencies. our mess is clear to bring to justice those responsible for the marathon bombing. the american public wants answers and the citizens of the city of boston and commonwealth want and deserve answers. this group of dedicated men and women standing before you pledge to do everything possible to get those answers. this remains a very active investigation. our ongoing investigation in various locations throughout the area goes on however there are no known additional threats. we process the crime scene which could take some time. the citizens of massachusetts and the city of boston should expec

and again, my name is rick deloria. let me recap our investigative efforts this afternoon. yesterday at this time, our collaborative efforts were on saving lives and treating the injured. resources were directed to ensure the safety of our community. as soon as those important tasks were completed, first responders focused on a criminal investigation. the joint terrorism task force composed of more than 30 agencies, including the boston police, the massachusetts state police, atf, hsi, united states secret service and others responded to the scene. many of them were already there as part of the general security firm for the marathon already in place. the first step law enfor me to say enforcement took was to preserve the area. this morning, the fbi along with boston pd, massachusetts state police, and atf, officially began its forensic evidence recovery. their goal was to recover physical items related to the blast. those items have been recovered and are being sent to the fbi's laboratory in quantico, virginia. there, specialized examiners will reconstruct the device or de

told you yesterday that the fbi has taken charge of the investigation, special agent in charge rick deloriaill speak shortly. it's important to clarify that two and only two explosive devices were found yesterday. other parcels, all other parcels in the area of the blast have been examined, but there are no unexploded bombs. there were no unexplosive devices found. over 150 people were injured yesterday in the blast. some gravely. our thoughts go out to all of those injured and killed and to their families and friends. i personally want to thank the extraordinary first responders for their extraordinary work yesterday. every single one of them, those who were on site and those who got to the site promptly thereafter performed beautifully as have the area hospitals and i've been calling around to the heads of the hospitals personally to thank them as well. it's our hope that tomorrow we will organize an interface prayer service to help our community heal. we don't have details but we will prove those when we have them. there was a support center opened yesterday in the castle opposite the pa
