jon: rick folbaum thanks.quake early morning system credited with saving thousands of lives could be coming to a city near you. the u.s. government is quietly testing an earthquake early warning system in california since february. and scientists there are looking at a system similar to the one used in japan. you remember that massive earthquake and tsunami that devastated the region back in march. millions of people in japan got an early warning sign. sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes 30 seconds that helped prevent the disaster from being much, much worse. richard allen is a size mow logical lab director at the university of california at berkeley and he's joining us now to talk a little bit more about this. richard let's just start with some of the basics of this early morning system. how soon will i know if an earthquake is coming? >> well what we do is we detect the very beginnings of the earthquake andee assess how much shaking there is going to be. the amount of warning time is dependent on how far you are

rick folbaum has more. rick?re looking into this and they want to know how nude pictures of the actress which she apparently took of herself made their way onto the web. scarlett johansson not the first celebrity to have that happen to her. the fbi began the investigation in march to track down those responsible for taking pictures of 50 stars. including jessica alba, christina aguilera and vanessa hudgins of, "high school musical" fame. they hack into the cell phones and steal the pictures and sell them to porn web sites. there are no shortage of web sites who teach you how to hack into someone's cell phone if you're interested doing that. some are taking matters into their own hands, threatening to sue any website that post the pictures online or maybe stop taking pictures all together, jon, i don't know. just an idea. jon: that would be one way to stop it. wouldn't it? rick folbaum, thanks. jenna: battling bad manners in the big city one artist putting his skills to work sending a message to fellow new yorkers
