rick folbaum has more, rick?you asked a question yesterday how do you a show about horse racing without any horses after my report that hbo was keeping horses off the set of the show after a third horse has died. now we know the entire show is being shut down. canceled. the network, alongwith the show's producers releasing a statement saying while we maintain the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it's impossible to guaranty they won't happen in the future. accordingly we have reached this difficult decision. the most recent accident happened tuesday when one of the horses was being led back to its stall. the horse reared back on her behind legs fell backwards, hitting her head on the ground. the vet on the scene determined that the horse had to be euthanized. appears exactly what hbo has decided to do with this whole show which wasn't exactly drawing a huge audience anyway. back to you. jon: rick folbaum, thank you. >> well his life is in their hand. a jury deliberating the fat

rick folbaum has more. rick?e arriving back at home after a long day at work only to find a team of robbers waiting for yo when you get there. that's exactly what happened in northeast philly sunday night. they were ambushed by six or seven young thugs, all of it caught on tape, and you can see them lead the man -- or you will in a moment -- they lead the husband into the house, but they leave his wife on the ground. she will be in between these two cars here. there is a scuffle with her while they empty out her pocketbook, then they force her onto her hands and knees, and they make her crawl to the front door of her own house with a gun to the back of her head. you can only imagine what's going through this woman's mind while all of this is going on. now, inside the house the robbers pistol whipped the husband, eventually they get him to hand over about $30,000 worth of cash and jewelry. police say the thieves knew the couple would be returning home from their business and they would have cash on them when they

rick folbaum has more details. rick? >> reporter: jenna, you don't like to see a plane in that position. most important thing as we look at the pictures, no passengers were onboard this plane, no one was hurt. but think of what a disaster this could have been if the plane was filt with people. mechanics were just testing the engines of this boeing 737 when all of a sudden the breaks malfunctioned. the plane rolled off a taxiway right into an embankment. you see the early morning shots. spokesman for delta said the plane was pretty significantly damaged. another plus got to be the accident happened as early as it did before the morning rush. the faa says the overall airport operations in in atlanta were not affected. we'll bring you more information as we get it. jenna: it's a big news day today. we have two primaries in the deep south that could reshape this replbl can -- republican race. i'm jenna lee. jon: i'm jon scott. rick folbaum has more on this. rick? >> reporter: jenna, as we speak there is extreme fire danger across the entire state of colorado. more than a dozen fires in all. the biggest one you mentioned is jefferson county. it is called of the lower north fork fire. one person is dead there. several homes have been destroyed. not really sure what caused this. the sheriff's department said it may have been the wind blowing embers from a fire set on purpose last week as officials were trying to clear brush. one of those controlled fires officials set every now and then. whatever the cause it's a real problem for folks who live nearby. >> i'm really scared and getting afraid to leave. >> how worried are you right now? >> panic, panic. i really am. >> i'm grabbing personal papers. my dog, my cat, some clothes and pictures that can't be replaced. things like that. medicine. >> first time in 36 years i had to get out of here so. he have duty. >> it is kind of scary. it's real scary. so we're just hoping it doesn't blow this way. >>

jon: please do, rick folbaum. thanks.ising gas prices and a prediction that we'll see a new record set this year. the national average for unleaded regular jumping another penny today, $3.83 a gallon is the national average, that's up 32 cents from a month ago costing all of us an extra, well, $6 or more every time we fill up our tank. the record back in july of 2008, the national average record, was $4.11. our next guest says he believes the prices are going even higher than that, and that's going to happen this year. patrick is a senior petroleum analyst for a web site that helps drivers find gas stations with the lowest gas prices in their zip code which is always a good thing. how high do you think it's going to go? >> well, jenna, we're only in march here, so a dose of reality is that we're still two months away from the start of the summer driving season, and prices already 20 cents higher. how high will they go? they could easily break the record that we set in 2008 of $4.11. so, unfortunately, things still going t

rick folbaum is here with the disturbing details, the anxiously awaited details that we all want to knowrick. >> reporter: you wouldn't expect, jenna, something referred to as pink slime to be good. it's not. we're talking about filler, beef trimmings that according to two former scientists at the u.s. department of agriculture are added to the ground beef that we buy. gerald zenstein and carl custer telling abc news the trimmings were once only used in dog food and cooking oil but now he says they -- they say, rather, they're found in 70 percent of the ground beef that we buy at our local supermarkets. it's basically a way for beef sellers to boost their profits by using a lesser quality filler that's cheaper than pure ground beef. the whistleblowers say it's not even actual beef, it's what is salvaged after the animals are slaughtered, then treated with aknowna to kill bacteria to make it safe enough to eat, though you won't find any of that listed on the label ingredients, something else the scientists fought for and were denied. we reached out to the fda and they tell fox news the us

rick folbaum has more on this. >> reporter: jenna, senator roy blunt of missouri introduced this amendment onto a transportation bill. it does not specifically mention the word contraception. blunt says it is not about any specific medical procedure. it would allow employers or insures to opt out of pay in of the signature health care law on religious or moral brounds. as we know by now the law requires employers to provide free birth control for those on the plans. after a push back from conservative and religious groups a compromise allows religiously affiliated employers to opt out of paying for contraceptives putting costs on health insurance companies again. the blunt amendment would cover any medical procedure, any aspect of the health care law that any given employer finds objectionable. jenna: we'll continue to watch for that, rick, thank you. jon: mitt romney's presidential campaign is trying to set the record straight on the candidate's reaction to the blunt amendment. this comes after an interview with mitt romney on the ohio news network yesterday. here is romney's initial resp
