we start with rick leventhal at the press conference which i hear just wrapped up. go ahead, rick, what did we learn? >> reporter: eric, minutes ago, the mayor of the city, the police chief and special agent in charge of the fbi office in washington, d.c. giving us details. he went over some of the headlines. we confirmed the identity of the shooter as aaron alexis. they wouldn't give us much information about him, but jennifer griffin at the pentagon confirms he was in fact an enlisted member of the u.s. navy. apparently he no longer is, and we're trying to confirm, find out how he got on the base. we do now have a total of 13 dead, including the shooter, and at least a dozen hurt. some of them wounded, some just hurt in the chaos that unfolded at the washington navy yard earlier today. there are, there were two other possible suspects, one cleared by authorities, the other they're still looking for. a black male in his 50s in an olive drab uniform standing 5'10". armed and seen on surveillance video, but as one source, federal agency told me, these mass shootings a

rick leventhal is live for us in seaside park, new jersey. rick?> and, harris, several firefighters suffered minor injuries and three police officers were also hurt when they fell out of the back of a pickup truck while providing security out here last night. clearly the big impact has been on this community and on these beachfront businesses that have spent the last 10 months rebuilding after being devastated by super storm sandy and then of course that boardwalk that you mentioned roughly a quarter mile of it, much of it brand new now completely charred and ruined in effect after this fast-moving fire started in a frozen custard shop yesterday about 2:00 in the afternoon. it quickly spread north. fanned by 25 to 30 mile-per-hour winds. there were 400 firefighters that came here from across the state to battle this blaze. at one point it reached 10 alarms. it was stopped only when construction crews carved two chunks out of that boardwalk to prevent fire lines to prevent more damage. the governor is focused on victims to recover again. >> these ar

rick leventhal is back with more on that. rick thrk man's background is what? >> people wondering how he got security clearance at all. as we have learned he was arrested in 2004 in seattle, washington. police say he shot out tires of a vehicle brong belonging to a construction crew working next door saying he shot out tires of the vehicle apparently upset over the noise they were making or parking situation. that was ongoing because of the construction in the neighborhood. then, in 2010, he allegedly shot a round through the ceiling of his apartment into the neighbor's apartment upstairs because he had an ongoing dispute about the noise she made in that apartment. the neighbor claims he confrontedner a parking lot friar to the shooting and scared her. she says she was terrified of him. police got to him, they pounded on the door he can't come out. he talked to police and told police he was cleaning his weapon and shot by accident. police apparently didn't buy that the story that. shooting in 2010 apparently was the reason why he was discharged from the navy. i

rick leventhal joins us. rick? >> greta, we just came from a news conference with the mayor of washington, the police chief and the head of the mib mib office's here in d.c. the metropolitan police department handed us this list. let's get to this sad list of names. their families have been notified so we can release their names. these are seven of the victims. 59-year-old michael around, 53-year-o 53-year-old, 73-year-old john roger johnson, 5-year-old frank kohle, kenneth bernard proctor. we are told that these victims are not active duty military. apparently, none of those killed according to the metropolitan police department are active duty military. at least one is a d.c. resident. their families have been notified, per still working to notify the family members of the four others, five others who were killed in this morning's shooting. we also learned the shooter in this case had legitimate access to the nay yard. he utilized a valid pass according to the fbi to get on to the navy yard and begin that shoot i

rick leventhal, thank you.na: we take you out to breaking news in colorado where severe flooding killed three people and is now forcing thousands to evacuate across the state. the governor wrapping up a news conference moments ago urging people to stay off the flooded roads, some of which you're seeing on the screen. it's tough to foe what is actually a road and the river. boulder county, about a 45 minute drive northwest of denver, hit especially hard with rescuers struggling to save stranded drivers. we showed you this daring rescue yesterday on fox news where emergency workers saved this man. that man is said to be doing fine, but we're joined by someone who was there to witness this all, lafayette fire be chief jerry morell who is going to tell us about the latest on the ground. chief, what's the priority today? is how are things going? >> well, things are much better today. the rivers are at least in our area starting to recede. we are west -- excuse me, east of the mountains. so it's a little bit better w

rick leventhal joins us. rick: i spoke to a local councilman who calls this a real tragedy.are told roughly 3 dozen businesses here in seaside park were completely destroyed by the fire and 15 more to the north of us in seaside heights wiped out. the firefighters are telling us now it is under control. they have roughly 90% contain. they are working on hotpots under sections of roof and wall. less than 100 firefighters still on the job working methodically and much more slowly than yesterday when 400 firefighters from across the state were battling this massive blaze described more like a forest fire than a building fire with the flames being whipped by 25-40-mile-an-hour winds. firefighters cut large sections through the boardwalk to try to cut breaks to stop the fire's advance. >> we cut the boardwalk tries. the first time it nearly held. you just too much fire and too much wind coming at us. so we dropped back to our second defensive position where we made a better defensive barrier and we were able to stop the fire there. rick: they exceeded the water supply in both of t
