rick leventhal joins us live. good evening. >> good evening. the death rate from drug overdoses in new hampshire has s doubled the national average. many calls that firefighters answer are for medical issues, primarily drug overdoses. the president made the manchester fire department's first stop to get a look at there's a station program where addicts are invited to come here and get fast-track into a drug treatment program. this afternoon, the president talked about expanding treatment but focus on getting tougher on drug dealers, suggesting major traffickers should face the death penalty for potentially destroying thousands of lives. >> of all the blue ribbon committee's we want but if we don't get tough on the drug dealers, we are wasting our time. just remember that. we are wasting our time. and that toughness includes the death penalty. >> focus on preventing americans from becoming addicted in the first place by finding nonaddictive pain medications. we will also punish drug companies and doctors for overprescribing opioids, cutting perc
