mark: today includes once from scott walker, ted cruz, and rick perry, and none of them much like the current federal tax code. is the issue of taxes a winning issue for republicans in 2016? john: it really depends on which republican becomes the nominee and what their tax plans are. there will be a big debate about tax reform in the republican party. we don't know what their tax plan will be. marco rubio's tax plan will not be rand paul's tax plan. if there is a tax plan at the republicans can get behind that looks family-friendly, that isn't just a big tax cut, that is a different calculus that the old school, we will cut rates on the rich. mark: everybody wants simpler, fairer, flatter. it is easier within the republican nomination fight to do that but they have yet to talk about deductions. in the general election, if you are for a flat tax against hillary clinton, you will be creamed. john: marco rubio doesn't want to cut rates and other reform conservatives want to keep the top rates high stop mark: it to come out for a flat tax without making it revenue neutral or progressive y

but you know rick perry has counted performance in texas metrics for many years. he was a number one this year. could not claim it but he did have five out of the top 10. on this list. so, texas has a unique combination of tech, energy strength in a very favorable business climate. california had four metros in the top 25 as well as colorado did. there were seven metros my top 25 that are really there because of the energy explosion in the united states. and another depiction of that is that we have our small best-performing cities. they are roughly 8179 smallest metros and fargo north dakota minnesota was number one among that group was related to [inaudible] and the positive spillover effects. in another one common area, west palm beach was the biggest improver for the year-to-year moving up 93 spots from last year. that has to do with the end in housing bust in that area of the country. so these are some the metrics that we used in evaluating metros. we look at job growth, wages, technology growth, over the most recent five years and over the most recent one ye

rick perry's with me now. he's the former governor of texas and potential 2016 contender.your timing could not have been p better considering the headlines we saw this weekend chaos in yemen and over the nuclear deal with iran just to name a couple. >> well, obviously this has been going on for some time, all of these cross currents, if you will, kind of come across our tvs and our newspapers, our radios over the course of the last 72 hours that really brings it to a head of great concern obviously is this negotiation with this administration dealing with iran. i think like a lot of americans we're really concerned about the rush, if you will, to get a deal with iran. this is a country that's been exporting terrorism around the world. and we seem to be negotiating with them like they're an ally. >> you know, you made the point today that if you become president you will actually invalidate the president's agreement with iran. how would you do that? >> well, obviously it's an agreement between the ayatollah and the president. that's all this is is an agreement. congress nee

think about that when rick perry says he would invalidate the deal.e would be sticking his thumb in the eye of france, germany, and the u.k. they really hold the success or failure of this deal most quarely in it's hands. iran. you may have heard of them. it is who netanyahu warned us about in his speech. but there has been little to no decision about how the institutions inside of iran view the deal or the possibility of the country reopening to the rest of the world. iran's political dynamic has in some ways a kind of resident mirror image of their own. just as the deal here mobilized some faxes, so has iron motivated the hard liners. the political strength comes from the founders to the west. joining me now is the author of "a single roll of the dice." i guess there is a tendency to think of iran as monolithically. who likes this deal and who doesn't? >> iran has politics like all other country, but i think one hard of critics, and the difference is that frankly the hard liners on the american side are outdoing the iranian hard liners. they are ess
